“Welcome back, kiddies!” howled Victor. “Your dear uncle Victor Toothspark has miss you dearly,” said Victor with a bit of sarcasm.  “Today’s story is a tasty one; this story is coming out of the east side of town. There is a certain church or should we call it a cult over there. This group has committed one of the more vile acts in our dear town. This story centers around a little tasty treat named Amanda. But what is Amanda’s fate?  Stay tuned,” howled Victor

Amanda had always been the typical good girl. Amanda did what she could to please those around her. She was young and very naive.  Well, one day Amanda was hanging out downtown in Central Park waiting for her friends to meet her there. While Amanda waited, she noticed a blind man wandering around the park. The man had a white cane and sunglasses and appeared to be about sixty years old. The blind man approached Amanda and as he passed by her, she greeted him and he seemed startled. She apologized for scaring him and he reassured her that it was no problem.  They sat on a nearby bench and talked for a few minutes. Then the blind man asked her if she could help him. He had a letter he needed to mail to his brother across town and neither he nor his brother had a phone. Amanda, being the kind person she was, told him she would take the letter to him herself and save him the postage. The blind man was taken back by her kindness and thanked her graciously. He handed Amanda the envelope and repeatedly thanked her. The blind man got up and told her he had to go. Amanda told him it was nice meeting him and he turned and walked away. But what was odd to Amanda was that the blind man wasn’t using his cane anymore. Then as the man got to the street he took off running through traffic. Amanda was shocked at seeing the blind man run though traffic.

She then looked at the envelope in her hand and it was very thin with maybe a small note in it. She was torn about what to do. Should she deliver the note, or maybe just throw it away? Just then Amanda’s friends showed up and she told them what had happened before they came. They told her to go to the police and explain to them about this strange blind man. So Amanda went to the police station on Rockbridge Street. Amanda entered the police station and showed them the letter from the blind man. The police officers talked among each other and they decided to open the letter. Inside was a small note and in bold print it said THIS IS THE LAST ONE I AM SENDING YOU TODAY. The police and Amanda wondered what it meant but it could not have been good. So four car loads of officers went to the address on the envelope which the blind man had given to Amanda. The address was to a large home over on the east side of town on the 900 block of 12th Avenue. After the raid, the officer called Amanda and explained what they found. The man who had given her the letter did this to many people, but she was the only one not to go. The house was full of cannibals waiting for her. They were a part of a large cult called the Eternal Hope of Life Group. Amanda dropped on the spot; she woke up to her parents looking over her. She had escaped a most gruesome death, but others were not so lucky.

“So, kiddies, next time a kind old man wants your help, beware!” Then Victor laughed his crazy laugh “muhahaHAHAHAHAH.”

Author's Note

In the original story, this supposedly took place in Berlin after World War II. This was brought about because after the war, no supplies were brought into Germany. The world saw Germany as Nazis still even though the regime fell. So people lived on around 1300 or less calories a day. Also this spurs from rumors of Polish Jews killing German girls and selling their flesh, but this is a legend, not an actual event. My story stays pretty close to the original. The exceptions are mine takes place in America five plus years after World War II. Also I used a cult doing the deed, and eating people for religious reasons. In the original version people were resorting to cannibalism to survive. The blind man acts pretty much the same in both stories. He acts helpless until the girl agrees and then he runs away thinking she did not see him after he walked away.  Also I took this story out of a war-torn country and put in suburbia. I think by putting this is in a “normal” town makes it worse. These people are eating humans for pleasure not to live or make money.  Also the fact that this story is unconfirmed adds some mystery to it. I liked the title because it was mysterious.
