This storybook paints the story of what happens when a human meets the sea-creatures that he (and the rest of humanity) has feared for so long. It describes the plight of one man, lost at sea, sinking to the bottom of the ocean where the long tentacled, gaping teeth nightmares that haunt human's fears of the ocean await him.

For the storybook I will explore the stories of several sea creatures, including sirens, Davy Jones, and Sedna. Through their interaction with the human of our story, it is my hope that the readers learn more about the creature, and perhaps begin to explore their side of the story a bit.

So sit back and get ready to read about the dark, murky, wet world of sea monsters.

-----

I should have known I was in trouble the moment I started smelling gasoline. That acrid, biting smell invaded my nostrils and was strong enough to make me gag a little. I convinced myself, however, that perhaps I was just experiencing a little gas leak, maybe, or that there had been a spill somewhere nearby on the water, and it's contents were still floating on the surface. Either way, I figured, there wasn't much I could do about it in the pitch black of the night, out in the middle of the ocean. Besides, I had been lost for nearly three days, and was too tired to care at that point.

I had come out on the ocean by myself to do some reflecting. I had just quit my job of fifteen years as a high-level business man and needed to figure out what I was doing with my life. The men at the dock where I rented the boat advised me against taking the boat out by myself, but I figured hey, I did some boating in high school, and I'm a professional, I can handle it. Boy was I wrong.

So when the smell of gasoline showed up, honestly I was too frustrated and angry with myself to even care. So I just resolved myself to breathe more through my mouth and layed down on the deck to take a nap.

Suddenly, I was jerked from my sleep from a deep, deck rattling explosion. As I quickly scrambled to my feet, I saw a bright orange and red glow where my boat steering area had been before. Burning along side it was my life boat and the rack holding all four life jackets. I panicked. I ran toward the burning office, hoping to grab at least the life jacket, if not the lifeboat. But the heat was too intense, and it repelled me. As I backed up, smoke filled my lungs, and I fell to my knees, gasping and choking for air.

That's the last thing I remember from the surface. The next thing I remember, I feel weightless and I fell wet. I open my eyes, and all around me, all I see is blue. Bright, shifting prisms of blue, all around me. And I'm sinking. I don't know how, and I don't know why, but I am sinking.

Suddenly, I see something moving in the darkness of the water in front of me. I open my mouth to scream, but no sounds come out. No air escapes. I'm dead.
