Good morning, Hollywood. This past weekend was crazy with nights at Area and my favorite Les Deux- but enough about me! You won't believe the latest gossip coming out of southern California!!!

Bella is a senior at the USC and she is cheerleading captain, student body president and Delta Gamma sorority president. How she has time to do all that is beyond me! That's besides the point. Anyways, she decided to enter the prestigious Lambda Chi White Rose Pageant. You see, whoever wins the White Rose Pageant is a shoe-in for Homecoming Queen.

Bella and her father are extremely close and she tells him everything---well, maybe not everything, but pretty close. Anyways, he knew how important this was to her and he swore he would do anything to get her that white rose. After hiring a private investigator, Bella's father learned who was in charge of deciding who would win the white rose.

The head judge was a student at USC by the name of Steve who had a reputation for being a loser. If you saw this kid, you would understand! He had the grossest acne, his clothes look like they were made in the 80's and his hair looked like he stuck his fingers in the electrical socket! Trust me, NOT cute! Sorry, back to the story.

Bella's father paid a visit to Steve and promised him that if his daughter won the pageant, then she would take Steve to Delta Gamble, the biggest sorority party on the entire campus. What kind of person passes up a party opportunity? Not Steve! He agreed and followed through on his word when he crowned Bella as Ms. White Rose. Seeing the smile on her face made her father fill up with unbelievable joy. But all of that vanished when he realized he now had to tell his daughter about the deal he made.

"Bella," he said, "you know that I love you very much and would never do anything to hurt you, right?"

Bella giggled. "Of course, Daddy! Why do you ask?"

"Well," he sighed, "I sorta bribed the head judge so you would win the pageant."

I can only imagine what the look on her face must have been!

"YOU DID WHAT?!?" Bella screamed. "Daddy how could you?!?"

"I knew how badly you wanted this," he said, "and I wanted to make sure that you got it."

"What was the deal you made with him?" she asked.

"Umm, well, you sorta have to take him to Delta Gamble," he said as he lowered his head.

That didn't go over so well. However, Bella was a woman of her word and her father knew this. She told him that since she was going to follow through with his arrangement, then she at least wanted to meet Steve for coffee so it wasn't totally awkward.

Now, hold on a minute. You know when you are in a theatre, how it is dark and you usually can't see out into the crowd? Well, that was the case in this story as well. Bella had no idea what Steve looked like, so imagine her surprise when he showed up at her door looking like he just stepped out of an 80's acne commercial!

Bella swallowed her pride and reminded herself it was not the end of the world as they drove to a nearby coffee shop. As soon as she sat down, she immediately noticed something she hadn't seen before- his eyes. There was something about them that was captivating. Four hours later, she looked at her watch and could not believe how fast time had gone. She didn't want to leave but she had an 8 a.m. class and as we all know beauty sleep is a necessity in California.

The date party was a week away and so Bella continued meeting Steve in somewhat secret locations- that was his idea not hers. I mean can you blame the guy for not wanting to be seen in public? Common! They met in the library, in a children's park, and all over campus.

Finally, the night of the date party arrived and Bella was so excited she could barely contain herself. Steve was supposed to come by at eight to pick her up, so imagine her surprise when he knocked at her door at three in the afternoon.

"I think you should take someone else to the date party, Bella," Steve said.

"What? Why?" she asked.

"I'm letting you off the hook," Steve said. "We both know you're just trying to hold up your father's end of the deal."

Bella felt her heart sink into her chest as she struggled to find the words she had been trying to say all along.

"Truth is," Bella said, "I know this started out as repaying a debt so to speak, but it isn't like that anymore. I think I am starting to fall in love with you."

WOWAH! Didn't see that one coming did ya?!? Me neither!

"Well," Steve said," I guess then I'll see you at eight."

She rushed back upstairs, happy she had told him how she felt and excited about the evening ahead. At eight on the dot her doorbell rang and there stood someone who slightly resembled Steve but with MAJOR improvements. The acne was gone, he was in a Prada tuxedo and his hair was perfectly styled. He was GORGEOUS!

"Steve!" Bella said in surprise. "What happened to you?"

"Well, Bella," he said, "I haven't been completely honest with you. I'm a sociology major and was doing a project to see how people would react to me if I was ugly as opposed to how they treat me on a regular basis. You were the only one who saw past the facade and got to know the real me."

With that, he grabbed her and kissed her as she had never been kissed before. Jealous much? They went to the date party and I guess you could say are living happily ever after.

That's all for this week's edition of scandal. Who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell. Until next time. XoXo Gossip Girl.

Author's Note:
I had so much fun writing this fairy tale and making it modern! I used the story of Beauty and the Beast and kept most of the basic story elements with a few changes. In the original version, Belle confesses her love for the Beast when she thinks he is dying. Obviously, I couldn't keep the beast a monster so I changed him into what would be considered a Hollywood monster, ugly. In the story Bella confesses her love to Steve when he tells her he cannot take her to her sorority date party.

This story fits into my overall plan for my storybook because it is a modern fairy tale told through the eyes of gossip girl. This is totally something that could be seen on her blog site or in a E! true Hollywood story. It is similar to the other stories because it takes place in the Hollywood Hills and it has the same frametale as my other stories will have. I think it's different based on the setting. Except for this story, none of them will be taking place on college campuses. This story really contributes to my overall project because it sets the tone for the rest of the storybook. It also is a good indicator of what is to come within my other three stories.
