the mainstream is so polluted with lies
once you get wet, it's so hard to get dry
we're all taught how to justify
           history
           as it passes by
           and the world
           that comes crashing down
           when the big boys decide
           to throw their weight around

            what if the enemy
            isn't in a distant land
what if the enemy lies behind
            the voice of command
            the sound of war
            is a child's cry
            behind tinted windows,
            they just drive by
all i know is that those
who are going to be killed
            aren't those who preside
            on capitol hill
            i told him,
            don't fill the front lines
            of their war
those assholes aren't worth dying for

TV is after all the modern day roman coliseum,
Human devastation as mass entertainment,
And the millions sit cheering, collectively jeering,
The bloodthirsty hierarchy of the patriarchal arrangement.

Science chases money, and money chases its tail,

And the best minds of my generation can't make bail.

"Many conflict theorists charge that there is thus a hidden curriculum in our schools: that along with reading, writing, and arithmetic, students are taught conformity and obedience to authority." James William Coleman and Harold R. Kerbo, Social Problems, 2003.

Critical pedagogy

The teacher stands in front of the class, but the lesson plan he can't recall. The student's eyes don't perceive the lies bouncing off every fucking wall. His composure is well kept, I guess he fears playing the fool. The complacent students sit and listen to some of that bullshit that he learned in school.
— Zack de la Rocha, Rage Against the Machine, Take The Power Back
