Introduction

Welcome to the girls-night-in-Cinderella story marathon! There are a vast number of Cinderella stories told all over the world. What is interesting is that there are different versions of the stories in different countries! My frame-tale is about a group of four girls sharing a different version of the Cinderella story from the Ashliman collection.  Each of them will re-tell their own version of each of the stories.

The first story takes place in Kashmir, in northern India, and it will be told by Lydia. The original story is focused on Cinderella’s wicked step-mother. The story is about Cinderella's mother who turns into a goat for breaking a promise that she made to Cinderella's father. The evil step-mother wanted the children to starve and be weak. She didn't like that the goat was providing the children with food, so she ordered the servant to butcher the goat. In this story, you will have to read to see what magical events took place and what happened to Cinderella.

The second story takes place in Italy and it will be told by Layla. The original story is about Cinderella and the little Verdelio bird. The Verdelio bird enables her to go to ball that the King has held for his son. The bird transforms Cinderella into a beautiful woman with the most elegant dress to ever been seen.  You will have to read the story to understand the role of the Verdelio bird.

The third story takes place in Germany and it will be told by Lanna. The original story is about Cinderella and the two pigeons. Cinderella planted a tree on her mother’s grave, and when she shook the tree she’d get what she wished for. Her evil step-sister's treated Cinderella very poorly. She wasn't able to even step foot outside. The pigeons really opened the doors for Cinderella to escape the prison lifestyle. They lifted her wings and made her the most glamorous woman alive. Read the story to find out how the pigeons helped Cinderella to escape for the horrific lifestyle.

In conclusion, I have picked these three particular stories because I found them to be the most interesting from the Ashliman Collection. Instead of a girl’s night-in movie marathon, my frame-tale is going to be a girl’s night-in Cinderella story marathon. Each girl will re-tell her own version of one of the three stories from Cinderella’s perspective. I hope my storybook will benefit others as a learning experience.
