Blackbeard's Final Battle and His lost Treasure
It
was known that Blackbeard took the secrets of his lost treasure to the
grave. Not even I, a member of his family knows the whereabouts
of
this treasure. What I do know, is the story of his last battle
with
Captain Maynard, and how Blackbeard's secret went with him to the grave.
This wonderful story goes like this.....
Captain Maynard was given orders by the Governor to take down
Blackbeard and his crew. So, Captain Maynard and his men set out
to
sea and anchored their ships near where Blackbeard's ship was
anchored. Maynard and his men prepared all night for the battle
that
was to come.
By the looks of Blackbeard's ship, it seamed that
he was aware of the upcoming attacks. The funny thing was that he
really didn't seem to care! The laughter and shouting from
Blackbeard
and his men carried over the waters so loudly that Maynard and his men
could hear. It was obvious that Blackbeard was not concerned
about his
situation.
Morning came around, and the men on Blackbeard's
ship
greeted each other with honor. One of Blackbeard's men shouted
out,
"what is going to happen to all of that treasure you have found if you
die?".
Blackbeard looked over at his mate and said, "what
do you mean"?
His crew member replied and said, "well, does your
wife even know where you treasure is located"?
Blackbeard responded with a smirk on his face and said, "Ha! Of
course
not. No one knows, and by the way, which wife would you even be
talking about?"
The crew laughed at Blackbeard's response and
continued to prepare for the upcoming battle.
Maynard and his men set sail toward Blackbeard's ship. But, the
weird
thing was that Blackbeard's ship did not move an inch. Maynard's
ship
got within one hundred yards of his boat before Blackbeard set
sail.
He sped off straight towards the beach as if they were going to wreck
the ship into the bank! This was not the case, Blackbeard's plan
was
to make Maynard chase him through a very narrow canal that was
extremely tough to guide a ship through.
Maynard's ship ran
straight into the sand bar! Blackbeard's plan seemed to have
worked.
Maynard and his men started to throw unnecessary items off of the boat
in order to keep it from sinking!
Blackbeard was chuckling while he turned his ship
around to bombard Maynard's ship.
Blackbeard and his men were shooting off cannon balls at their enemy's
ship. They were getting so excited about this upcoming battle
that
there were pirates throwing very odd objects at the boat. It was
very
obvious that the pirates were anxious for battle.

Finally, Blackbeard approached the ship and jumped onto the boat
with all of his men.
The battle was insane. People were getting tossed overboard left
and
right. Pirates were stabbing navy officers, and the navy officers
were
shooting their pistols at the pirates. It was a bloodbath!
Blackbeard and Maynard locked eyes. They both drew their pistols
and
shot at each other. Blackbeard barely missed his target, but
Maynard
got a direct hit.
Blackbeard went down, but still had the
strength to draw his cutlass. Blackbeard swung his sword and hit
Maynard's blade out of his hand. It went flying into the
ocean.
Blackbeard raised up his arm again to stab Maynard in the heart, but a
man in Maynard's crew got to Blackbeard first. The man slit
Blackbeard's throat and killed him!
Maynard chopped off Blackbeard's head as a warning to all of the
pirates. Captain Maynard tied Blackbeard's head to the sail of
his
ship. He hung his head up there until it was deteriorated into a
skull. He wanted to let everyone know that it was Captain Maynard
who
brought down the great pirate, Blackbeard.
Captain Maynard and his men searched throughout
Blackbeard's
ship for his treasure. They found nothing but documents and
random
supplies. When Blackbeard died, so did the whereabouts of his
treasure.

Note: I kept my story very similar to the story that I
read. The main
change to the story that I made was that Captain Maynard tied
Blackbeard's head to his sail and kept it there forever. I
thought
this would be a good change because it shows how significant it was
that Captain Maynard and his men took down Blackbeard. I also
think
that it emphasized the "warning" that Captain Maynard wanted to send to
other pirates around the seas. Overall, I kept my story very
close to
the one that I read. The original story that I read was titled,
"Blackbeard- Pirate Terror at Sea."
