In this Storybook, we will go on a cruise to Far Away Lands with
Locasta,
the Good Witch of the North. Our destinations are places from the
stories that many of us grew up with as children. We will go to
Neverland, to Oz, and to Wonderland.
Most
of you are familiar with these places for they are from the stories of
Peter Pan, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
Neverland is a place filled with mythical characters like mermaids and
fairies. It also contains pirates, natives, and orphans.
Together, these characters make for an exciting adventure on the
beautiful island.
Oz is a colorful place filled with many unique characters, which are
often not mythical or human at all. Rather, they are animals,
porcelain china dolls, or indescribable characters. These
characters live in a land of extraordinary color and imagination.
Finally, Wonderland is a place very different form any place
imaginable. The characters here are so completely different, that
they defy all reality. Again, many of the characters are not
human at all. Instead, they are common objects like playing
cards. These characters make up a very peculiar world, filled
with many ordinary objects with extraordinary lives.
Let's start our journey!
Greetings! Thank you for choosing Far Away Land Cruises. We
sincerely
hope that you will enjoy the adventures in store for you because they
are many! We will battle pirates, save princesses, have glorious
unbirthday parties, meet new and interesting people and creatures, and
rescue some friends along the way. I am Locasta, the Good Witch
from the North of the Land of Oz, and I will be your
guide as we embark on our journey. Now, some of you may be wondering
why my name is not Glinda, the name that most of you are accustomed
to if you've seen that old Wizard of
Oz movie with Judy Garland. Glinda is a friend and the
Good Witch of the South. We
are often confused with one another and if you happen to slip and call
me Glinda, I'll just kindly remind you that my name is indeed Locasta.
Now, getting back to our cruise... and a quick word of caution: this
adventure is
not for those with serious health problems, those with desires to be
grown up, or those who are very concerned with reality (trust me: it's
important!).
To begin, I will tell you some important background information
you
will consider useful on our journey. Our first destination is the
beautiful land of Neverland. It contains several islands and
beautiful
beaches. Some of the locals enjoy basking in the sun on Mermaid
Lagoon
and chasing the Natives. Other activities include following the
sound
of the tick-tocking
crocodile and watching out for the dreaded Captain
James Hook! For this part of our trip you will need comfortable night
clothes (the best clothes for flying!) and the happiest memory or
thought you can imagine! In just a moment, I will sprinkle you with
fairy dust and will explain to you the flying formations and patterns
we will be using. It is extremely important that you always
remember
your happy thought because the moment you get nervous or sad you will
find yourself falling quickly.
It
is extremely important that you meet back with the group by noon in the
open field near the Lost Boys' hideout. Unless you want to join
Hook's pirate band,
I suggest you stay with the group and meet as planned. There, we
will catch a
ride on
a cyclone that will take us to our next destination, Oz.
This is going to be a fantastic trip...hope you don't get motion
sickness because sometimes flying can make you a bit nauseated.
Everyone ready? Okay, first, stand up and think of your happy
thought. My friend Tinkerbell is here to sprinkle fairy dust on
everyone- don't take in too much or you'll sneeze all the way to
Neverland. Raise your arms and just circle the room for a minute.
Good, we're all ready. Now, we will go out the window and will be
following the second star. Here we go!
See how easy it is! The buildings look so tiny and the stars so big!
Neverland's getting closer...
