Research Interests

I am interested in the evolution of mammals during the Mesozoic. My dissertation research focuses on the functional development of the tribosphenic molar and the interrelationships of Middle Jurassic–Early Cretaceous therians. I am working on a thoroughly-sampled phylogeny of pre-tribosphenic and basal tribosphenic mammals, specifically amphitheriids and "peramurans", as well as stem taxa such as the therians from the Trinity Group of north-central Texas, and the relationship between the Deltatheroida and the Metatheria.

For my Masters, I updated the systematics of pediomyid marsupials (Late Cretaceous of North America). I am interested in improving the record from the early parts of the Late Cretaceous to better document the emergence of this important group, as well as other marsupial groups, through field work in the upper Santonian Eagle Formation of northern Montana and the growing OMNH collection from the Cenomanian–Santonian of southern Utah. Other side projects include some dabbling in the late Paleocene Fort Union Formation of western Montana.
