Author's Notes: The Dragon's Pearl

The most notable change to this myth is the gender of Xiao Sheng.  In the original Chinese legend Xiao Sheng was a young man not a young girl.  The dragon also did not marry Xiao Sheng.  It should also be pointed out that in the original myth the dragon was not named, and was refered to only breifly as the original owner of the pearl.  I took the name Kinabalu from a different legend (also containing a dragon pearl motif) which can be read here.  Obvioulsy, the fact that this redition has the dragon as the grandson of Tiamat is purely a result of the author's overactive imagination.  These and a few other slight changes were the only ones made to this myth.  Because I have kept the myth more or less intact I do not feel that a retelling of this myth is necessary.  However, if you would like to view a version of the true myth, please visit this site.
