Details:
All the above sources were used in pretty much the same way: gathering
of background information for the story and characters.
The greatest changes I made to the original myth of St. George
are thus:
St. George of legend is said to be a knight instead of a centurion but
I decided to make the time period that in which the real St. George (if
he actually existed) probably lived.
St. George never visited England let alone Wales but I had him fight
the dragon there because of his patronage of England and because I
wanted to.
The dragon is never named in the original legends, especially not
Llewkalyn (since I made that name up.)
The swamp setting was never specified in any of the myths.
The St. George dragon is in no way related to any of the New Zealand
dragons.
To the best of anyone's knowledge the dragon was not in mourning when
it
fought George.
The dragon did not call a council of the dragons after the battle
becuase it was dead by that time in the original myth.
