    Sanaa Lathan is one of the hottest, most successful actresses currently on the movie scene. Lathan was born on October 19, 1971, in New York City, New York were her mother, who was a professional dancer on Broadway, raised her. As a child, Lathan grew up around the theater where she loved to see her mother perform.

After high school, Lathan attended Berkeley University in California, majoring in english. While there, she was an actress with the Black theater Workshop. Later, she was accepted to Yale School of Drama where she received her M.F.A for acting. Eventually, Lathan returned back to New York to work and polish her craft of acting.

In 1996, she returned to L.A. to guest-star on TV sitcoms such as Moesha, Family Matters, In the House, Build to Last, and NYPD Blue. After numerous appearances, Lathan landed film roles on Blade, Life, The Wood, The Best Man, and Love & Basketball.
