Ah, okay, I lied to you. I'm going to bore you with some details. The actual Arab position in '48 was to the left at the monastery, and this is a picture of where the Israelis attacked from. The attack failed for various reasons, though some made it as far as the tree line to the right. See the road, and in the distance there is a cluster of trees on the left side of the road. This is hill 314. The staging area for the battle was located behind the tree line on the far right, and after the attack, the soldiers pulled back to hill 314 on their retreat. I had read about it, a most graphic account of a battle lost, and here I was taking a picture of it.
