So why did I tell you all that history of these caves? Because we went back into another one. Mark handed us hoes and buckets and told us to start digging. Check this out: they run an archeological excavation site where they get paid to give us tours then WATCH us excavate the caves for them. What a racket. The upside, of course, is that I got to excavate a cave. There was no grid or anything, just a cave with a lot of dirt in it and the occasional pot shard. We dug for a full 20 minutes or so, and I found a handle! This is Dave and me, holding our bucket of stuff no one has seen in two millennia, and me holding my awesome pot handle. The dirt was quite loose, so it wasn't exactly work or anything. This is a triumph of mine, something I never thought I would be able to do in my short life, something this darned cool.
