We hop on the bus and take off for Tel Aviv! We stopped first at a school for troubled youth to do a little community service, which turned out to be weeding. The buildings there were surrounded with dirt, and plants had decided to set up shop. I started raking, then got a hoe and just went to town killing everything I could find that was green and rooted (don't worry, Chris was relatively safe). The place was right on the ocean, and despite the 8 foot military fencing surrounding it, quite lovely. Annie and I shared a moment watching the sun set over the Med, wind blowing off the ocean. Then we hopped the bus once more and hit the city. Our hotel was at the northernmost end of the hotel strip, and though not as nice as Kfar Blum, decent enough. The windows opened wide, despite us being on the seventh floor, no screens or anything, so I took this picture of the sun setting on Tel Aviv, facing north. Very soon after this I realized that I could actually catch the sunset IN the Med, so I got Chris and Khara and we dashed off the whole block and a half to the Med and still managed to miss the sunset anyway. It was okay, I still got to play in the ocean, watch the sky change colors, and finally head back to the hotel to head back out for dinner. That night was fun: I was on the hunt for Cubans, and of course there were none to be found, but we found a burger joint that sold a 250g hamburger for the low low price of $10. I couldn't believe it. Dinner was good, and we just walked around Tel Aviv all night, I got a Phish Stick, Ben and Jerry's Phish Phood covered in chocolate and put on a stick. Mmmmm...
