At the base of the hills, we began our little trek. The tour took us up the trail that the Israelis took in 1967 to beat the Syrians, a volcanic rock road plowed by bulldozers. There were three hills that the Syrians controlled, and one more to the south that was used by the Israeli command. That was to the left, and to the right, Sharon pointed to some holes in the ground and explained that those were dug for the artillery and tanks. This is a picture of them.
