On our way up the hill we passed a burned-out half-track on the way, a rusted reminder of the battles that took place here. In the background you see the trees that indicate a Syrian stronghold. The Israeli armor took heavy casualties from the Syrian artillery. They lost most of their tanks and half tracks, so the battle was essentially won by men walking up to the heavily defended bases and shooting at them. The hills were taken in order, from the lowest to the highest (off to the left and right), in one day.
