social poster

In 2008, the Universidad San Ignacio De Loyola in Lima, Peru put on an exhibition focusing on the social poster in relation to diversity in Peru. My idea for the poster was centered on a welcoming, playful feel rather than a controversial or solemn one.

Peru’s economy somewhat relies on textiles using the wool of camelids: llamas, alpacas, guanacos, and vicuñas. To symbolize the ethnic diversity of Peru, I used the familiarity of these animals, illustrating them in such a way as to exaggerate their unique features. A conversaton bubble grows from the mouth of one alpaca, which reads “abrace la diversidad” (embrace diversity).
