Many students make the same mistakes that others do. Knowing about these mistakes will prevent students from making the same ones in the future. These mistakes are often made unawarely.

-Many students recieve credit cards in exchange for free stuff. An interview completed on April 29, 2007, Ashley Hahn shared a recent expierence she had with credit cards. Ashley recieved a check in the mail, made out to herself, for an amount of $36.53. This check was from a random company, and Ashley needed the money so she went and cashed it. Well, the $36.53 that Ashley recieved just applied her for a subscription of 50 magazines a month. Not only did she get 50 magazines a month but it charged her an annual fee of about $700. So when recieving anything that you have to question or think it is "too good to be true" just shread it and turn away.

*Top Five Common Mistakes Made By College Students*-According to Moneysmartlife.com & Bankrate.com

1) Opening a Credit Card for free stuff.

2)Do not take your credit cards out with you when you go out. Take cash so you can have a limit.

3) Do not open up credit cards to your favorite store just to get a discount. Have the idea of "If I can't afford it now, I don't need it."

4)Do not get in the habbit of paying for your friends stuff. This will just add up on your credit card, and even though they are little amounts of money, they all add up to be much larger amounts.

5)Over looking scholarships and grants are one of the biggest mistakes made by college students. Scholarships and grants are basically free money. Money that does not have interest, and will save you some debt.
