This storybook presents three
of my favorite fairytale heroines as
contestants on the popular TV reality show, The Bachelor. You already
know how Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel met the prince of their
dreams and lived happily ever after. But what happened after the fairy
tale was over? Unfortunately, things did not turn out to be "happily
ever after" after all, and each of these ladies is now a contestant on
The Bachelor. Each of my heroines has lived the famous fairy tale that
makes them well known, and due to different circumstances, they are
each single once again, and looking for the real love of their life. In
my storybook we will learn each young lady's story, and also what
happened to the man who was, formerly, her husband. They will tell
their own version of what really happened after the fairy tale while
they are each trying to win over the heart of the Bachelor.
The
heroines I have decided to present in my storybook are Cinderella, Snow
White, and Rapunzel. Most children across the nation know the stories
associated with these three young ladies. But since there are so many
different versions of the stories, let me quickly describe the versions
I have chosen.
I have chosen to use the story of
Cinderella
written by Charles Perrault. This version of Cinderella is almost just
like the Disney movie version released in 1950. One noticeable
difference is that Cinderella does not make a gown and there are no
mice and birds that help her make one. Instead, she just accepts the
fact that she will not go, until her fairy godmother shows up.
The
version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs that I have chosen was
written by The Brothers Grimm. This story has quite a few things in it
that are not in the popular movie. In this version of the story, the
evil witch is the stepmother of Snow White, and after learning Snow
White is still alive after the witch's earlier attempt to kill her as a
baby, she
tries to kill Snow White three additional times, once by suffocation
with
beautiful silk fabric, once with a poisonous comb, and then finally
with a poisonous apple, which does supposedly kill poor Snow White.
After Snow
White is put in the glass coffin the prince comes, but he does not kiss
her to make her wake up. Instead the prince's men carry the coffin away
and accidentally hit a tree stump, which dislodges the poisonous apple
from Snow White's throat and brings her back to life.
The
Brothers Grimm also wrote the story of Rapunzel that I have chosen to
use. This story describes how the father of Rapunzel promises the
infant girl to the evil witch. It continues to tell how the prince
comes to Rapunzel and has her let down her golden hair and how the
prince climbs her hair. The story illustrates how the evil witch cuts
off Rapunzel's hair after she finds out about the prince, and how the
witch tricks the prince. It also shows how the prince becomes blind,
and he spends years searching through the wilderness for Rapunzel. In
the end they have a happy reunion, and the prince regains his eyesight.
I
also want to briefly describe how the reality TV show, The Bachelor,
works. It begins with one bachelor seeking a bride. The women live
together in a mansion, and they are each competing to win over the
bachelor's heart. The bachelor is introduced to each woman, and through
a variety of different events and competitions, he gets to know each of
them. Periodically a rose ceremony is held. At the rose ceremony, the
bachelor is given a certain number of roses, each time fewer roses than
women, and he has to choose which women will get a rose and which women
will not. At the end of the ceremony any girl who did not get a rose
packs her suitcase and goes home. The women who did receive a rose stay
and continue fighting for the man. So with that description, let's get
started.

Happily ever after? Not yet
anyways, but we here at the Bachelor have
high hopes for our man. Our man is a 27-year-old mechanical engineer
living in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His name is Marcus Brown, and he is looking
for true love. Marcus started with 25 specially selected young woman,
and each week he has had the difficult task of selecting some to go
home. Several women have not been given roses; therefore, they have
been sent home. Only three women have been given a rose each and every
week, and they are the ones still competing for Marcus's heart.
Well,
here we are in the final weeks of our competition, and we only have
three beautiful young ladies left. Our remaining bachelorettes are
Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel. As you may know, we are now ready
for our bachelor to take each of the young ladies on a personal
one-on-one date. On these much anticipated dates we always learn a lot
more about our ladies' pasts. Are you ready to learn all we can?? We
know we are!! And who will Marcus choose to be his fairytale princess?
We will find out soon enough.
