One cool autumn evening a group of boy scouts from El Paso, Texas started pitching their tents for one of the most wonderful camping trips of their lives. All of the boys were excited about the trip because the scoutmaster's father old Slim was going to accompany them on their camping trip. Every boy in the troop new what this meant. They would get to sit around the campfire every night and hear the best stories they would ever hear in their lives. It was commonly known that Slim liked to tell Tall Tales. He was always telling stories about when he was young and all of the adventures he went on with his famous friends. He told stories about Pecos Bill, Paul Bunyon, John Henry, and an assortment of other well known American folk heroes. The boys knew that there was no way Slim could possibly have been friends with all of these people, but it didn't keep them from enjoying his terrific stories. In a way each boy wanted to be able to believe that these fascinating stories were true!
