Welcome back, mermaids, to a terrific Tuesday, once again LIVE from the Sea-Weed Circle Auditorium! Today we will have a special interview with a mermaid who swam here all the way from Guam in the South Pacific!

So all my mermaids in the audience, please put your hands together and welcome our guest Sirena!

Hello everyone, my name is Sirena! I'm very thankful to be here today to share my story with everyone.

Ten years ago I was a normal girl, who like many of you did chores and had certain responsibilities around the house. Little did I know, my life would soon be changed forever.

It all happened one day when I was just helping around the house with some chores. My mom asked me to go get some coconut shells that she could use for dinner that night. I really didn't want to go all the way to the other side of the island, I really just wanted to go swimming in the sea.

Swimming in the open water for me was a way to get away from all my problems, and was my way to get away when I was stressed. So I jumped into the water, and went for a swim instead of getting the coconut shells. I can tell you I was still planning on going to get the shells at the time, but let's just say I was a typical teenager still in my rebellious stage.

"Viewers, we all know that raising merteens can be hard sometimes,"Mermana Montana said.

But what I didn't know was that my great-grandmother had traveled all the way from Haiti to come visit us at the time. I remember hearing my mom shout my name as I was still swimming in the water. I looked over at her and noticed my great-grandma standing there as well. I couldn't believe she was in town, so I jumped out of the water and started heading back to the house. As I got closer to them I could hear my mom yelling about how I still didn't have the coconut shells.

"To teach my daughter a lesson show her what she will miss by forever turning her into a fish!" shouted my mom.

Just as I was almost to them, I was suddenly unable to breathe. My lungs started closing up and my ears were beginning to burn. All of a sudden, gills started forming and my toes were starting to magically merge into one. I looked to my mom and she was in shock at what was happening, but she realized it was her fault.

My mom had put a magical curse on me because she was finally fed up with me never listening to what she wanted me to do. Unable to breathe, I was forced to move as quickly as I could back to the water. Just before I made it to the sea, I picked up a rock and tossed it to my great-grandma and told her I loved her. As I jumped into the water, I started panicking and began to cry.

There I was all alone in the water, changing into a mermaid! I was so upset but at the same time I was so mad at my mother! I knew if I just would've gone to just get the stupid coconut like I was supposed to, this would never have happened. But this, this was too much. I left the rock for my great-grandma in hope that she would throw in back into the water when she was thinking about me.

It's officially ten years ago today when this happened. And to this day, I still get this magical feeling when my grandma throws the rock into the water.  I can spot it from miles away, because she always leaves a little note or message imprinted on it. I always return the rock to the same spot on the dock by my house, with one of my shiny scales from my tail.

"Wow, so have you heard anything from your mother or have you seen her?" Mermana Montana asked.

No, but one of the messages on the rock from my great-grandma said that my mom wished that she could take back the curse, and that she will always love me.

"For every parent watching, let this story be a lesson. No matter what, we must be careful about what we say, because  we might regret it in the end," said Mermana Montana.

Mermana Montana is exactly right, everyone! No matter what happens or how bad of a situation you're in, never wish anything bad upon someone else! It could have lasting results that change your life forever.

The reason that I traveled so far to be on this show today is to get my story out  and to hopefully have an impact on everyone.  I want my story to be a lesson to people and definitely to parents out there, that no matter how troublesome and tired you get, don't give up on your children.

I would do anything to be able to go back in time and hug my mom again. You must realize now how much you love you're family when your with them, and not when it's too late.

I know we can be hard to work with, but being a parent is one of the greatest gifts of all. My mom realized how much she truly loved me a little too late. Things may not work out as we hope for, but it's the lessons we learn on our journey of life that teach us the most.

Plus, let this be a lesson to everyone: you have to work hard and be patient in order to keep your family close. You have to keep in touch and treat them as you would want to be treated. Give them your endless love because you only get one life, and you need to make the best of it.

Well, everyone, this has been a Mermana Montana exclusive! I want to thank Sirena for joining us today and traveling all the way from Guam!

Be sure to join us tomorrow when my chief correspondent, Diane Sea-Shell, tells us a powerful story of love and how one mermaid was able to seek revenge! Diane Sea-Shell will also answer questions from the audience and reveal her secret tips about relationships!

I'm Mermana Montana...and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Author's note: The original story was rather short, but I still kept the same idea of the story. The main changes I made were that I added more information on the feelings that Sirena had for her mother. Especially in the end when Sirena was telling the life lesson of her story. I also added a new connection of the rock with messages on it from Sirena's great-grandma. I hope this story was a powerful message to everyone that shows the importance of family and the ongoing work it takes to make it work. We are getting older, and it's time to think about the importance of family and the hardships we will have to face in order to make it work. I hope this is a lesson for everyone to realize that they don't want to end up like Sirena and lose the relationship with their family.
