Welcome back, mermaids, to a wonderful Wednesday, once again LIVE from the Sea-Weed Circle Auditorium! Today we have a special guest with a shocking love story!

So all my mermaids in the audience, please put your hands together and welcome our guest Crystal!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Hello, everyone. My name is Crystal! First of all, I must say that I don't have very good luck with mermen. After nine bad relationships with mermen from all over the ocean, I gave up.
    After my last breakup, my friends tried to cheer me up by giving me a bottle of magic potion. The magical potion was powerful enough to give humans the ability to breathe and talk underwater! So I figured if I found a human whom I liked, I would make him drink the potion and marry me! So the next day I swam to the top of the water, and started looking for a handsome man from one of the ships.
    Every sailor knew that mermaids had the power to overturn the boats, especially when they didn't get their way. So whatever we wanted, we got.
    I was determined to find someone to fall in love with! As every ship passed by, I would listen very closely for the names of the men onboard.
    When the captain would yell "Mark, hand me that over there," for example I would remember the names of the men and then swim up to the top and demand that they had to come with me.
    Well, it turns out that the men on board created a scheme of their own without me knowing. The captain would rename the men on the ship with names of tools and objects so they would end up throwing the tools overboard, instead of the men.
    The captain would say "Yo, hammer, move those boxes over here." And being as selfish as I was at the time, I would demand the hammer! I thought I would get a man - but all I got was a hammer! I quickly caught on to their game, but it was the captain's mistake that changed everything.
  The captain forgot to change a worker's name one day, and end up yelling for "Colby."
  So I yelled "Give me Colby!" There weren't any objects named "Colby", so they had to throw Colby overboard to me.
    When I came face to face with Colby in the water, I realized how incredibly handsome he was, so I quickly make him drink the magic potion. After he drank it, I wrapped my arms around him and swam back to my home on the sea floor.
 Colby and I quickly fell in love and got married! I had never been so happy in my entire life, and we lived under the sea together for five wonderful years. Or so I thought.
    One day my friend Shelly had me to log onto a new site called Mertwitter. So I created my own account and started "tweet." I would update my status five or six times a day. I tried to make Colby get one too, but he said he wasn't interested in such a silly website.
    The next day, I noticed that Colby had a Mertwitter account that I didn't know about. So I looked at his status and it said, "Out with my girl."
Funny thing was that I was his girl, but I wasn't out with him.
    I started looking at the statuses of other mermaids who lived close by. None of them seemed suspicious, until I read Sunshine's status, which said "up to no good."
   No good was right!  I knew Sunshine had a reputation for being very promiscuous. I had to find out for myself! Swimming faster than I ever had before, I swam to where Sunshine lived.
There it was right in front of me, proof! Lying on the couch were Sunshine and my Colby.
"COLBY!" I shouted!
"Oh my gosh, Crystal! What are you doing here?" Colby said nervously.
So I screamed, "What am I doing here? WHAT AM I DOING HERE? What do you think you're doing?"
    Colby tried apologizing over and over again, but I didn't want to hear it. So I took Colby and swam furiously to the first ship I saw. He kept trying to apologize, but I couldn't even look at him in the face. I pushed him to the ship, and swam away.
    For five years everything had seemed great. We would even laugh and joke about how we met, and how the captain's mistake was fate bringing us together.
When I finally looked at his Mertwitter status again, it only broke my heart even more.
"What did is say?" asked Mermana Montana.
It changes at least once a day. Today it said, "To my Crystal, I will always love you." It's always a quote about love and forgiveness, and sadly I can't help but look at it each day.
    It has been almost a year now since I took him back to that ship. My reason for sharing my story is not to say you shouldn't forgive someone. I'm not saying that you should never forgive someone for cheating, but I personally can't forgive him.
    My advice for everyone watching this: in life you are lucky to find that special someone whom you will love and cherish forever. Never lie, CHEAT, or steal. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal from unwanted company. If you must cheat, cheat death.
 I have created a website to help those who need relationship help or advice that will be completed soon! For now, anyone can e-mail me or Skype me for more advice at Crystal@atlanticsea.com.
Well, everyone, this has been a Mermana Montana exclusive! I want to thank Crystal for coming and sharing her incredible story!
Be sure to join us tomorrow with the most recent couple voted off of Dancing With Mermaids!
I'm Mermana Montana...and I hope you all have a wonderful day!
Author's note: I think that I certainly kept the same ideas and concepts of the original story, but I definitely added a lot more detail to my version of it! The main changes that I made were that I added details that would tell readers how the humans were able to breathe and survive in the water. The original story talked very briefly about exactly how the men were able to talk and breathe under water for such a long period of time. I also took the idea of the original story and gave it a modern twist, and created the idea of incorporating the social networking site Mertwitter into the story. On the other hand, I did leave out many details about the previous relationships that Crystal had. In the original story "Sam" (Colby in my story) had a wife and a girlfriend! I took my story in a direction, and instead of having Crystal steal him from his wife, Crystal found him! I also added details on how Mertwitter was the way Crystal would be able to find out Colby was cheating on her. Not to mention, I changed and created names for the characters! In addition, I changed the names of the characters. I kept the idea of the ending kind of the same, but I added the extra details about Colby updating his Twitter status as a way for him express his emotions for Crystal.
