Hey,
there, Doc. Here we are again, session number three, eh? Man, I
have to tell you, I feel like we are making some progress already. I
have had all this frustration, all this stress, locked up inside me for
so long. It just feels so great to finally have someone to talk to. I'm
glad you are so understanding and cooperative.
Let's see
now, I guess this finally brings us to Kalki. Kalki, as I told
you, is, or will be, my tenth and final avatar. Kalki is much
different from my other avatars, mainly because he has not come to
earth yet. I know this sounds crazy, right?
Can
I tell you something, Doc? I've never told anyone this before, not even
Lakshmi. Well, it's just, Doc, I am kind of scared of Kalki. It won't be
much longer until he comes, and I'm not sure what it will be like.
See, as
it is supposed to happen, Kalki will come to
earth in the Kali Yuga. I told you
about all the Yugas before, so
you know the Kali Yuga is the last yuga. We also just
happen to be in the Kali Yuga now.
The
purpose of Kalki this time is
not to save the earth, but to destroy it. Man, just thinking about it
really gets to me. Kalki is the
complete of opposite of me. Vishnu is known as the preserver of life,
so why is it that Kalki has to be in
relation to me? The two just really do not go together at all.
As you
can guess, I have no choice but to go to earth as Kalki. It is my
fate, and no matter how much I wish, I cannot change it. Kalki will come to
earth and he will be the destroyer.
It's
just so weird, you know? I mean, usually my avatars are the heroes.
They are the brave, the admired, the earth-preservers. Then there is Kalki, the one who
must destroy the earth and all those who reside on it.
I
mean, it does make a little sense, though. People on earth-sorry to
have to be blunt-but people on earth just aren't good anymore. They
have become corrupt and evil and we just can't let that go on. People
must be good, and well, it is just too late to do anything else now.
I'm
sorry, Doc. I hope I'm not upsetting you. You should be prepared too,
though. We should really think of it more as ridding the world of evil
then destroying it.
The
interesting thing is that after Kalki destroys the
world, things will sort of start all over. Kalki will bring
back the Satya Yuga and things be
will be good again.
You
know, maybe, just maybe, things will be different in the next go-round.
Maybe people will learn this time, maybe people will be good. Hey,
maybe, in this next world, there won't even be a need for me to have
avatars. Man, that would be great, huh?
I know
its hard to wrap
your mind around all this. It is still hard for me sometimes, too. I
really just don't
know how to handle it. As we move further and further into the Kali Yuga,
I just get more scared. I know the time will come soon and I'm not sure
how
I'm going to handle it. I thought the lives of my other avatars were
hard, but what's it going to be like for me after this? I mean, Doc,
not to
be such a downer, but I'm not sure I will even have you talk to.
What
then, huh? What will I do then?
Look, Doc, I really appreciate everything you have done. I think this
is getting too hard, though. I mean, don't get me wrong, you really
have helped me. I just, doc, this is going to have to be my last
session. I have said what I needed to and I would just like to leave
things here, ok? Thanks though, man. Really, thank you so much.
Author's
Note: For Vishnu's final therapy session I re-told the story of Kalki, Vishnu's
final avatar. The biggest change I made to the story is the style and
tense in which it is told. Kalki
may be the most important avatar of Vishnu because he will come to
earth to signify its end. It is said that the earth will have become so
corrupt and evil that it will have to be destroyed. There will be no
word of god, no faith, and no humanity left in society. It is also
believed that Vishnu himself will come down to earth during this time.
For Vishnu, this would be a particularly trying time. I emphasized the
fears that Vishnu would have in my story above. Vishnu has already
discussed the grief he has felt because of his other avatars. However,
this avatar makes him the most anxious because he has yet to come, and
even Vishnu is not sure of the exact date Kalki will be born.
In
tradition, most images of Kalki
depict him as riding a white horse with wings. There are also some
images where he is seen having a horse's head and a man's body. The
name Kalki can be a
metaphor for "eternity" but is also believed to mean destroyer.
