Puck's Reasons
Juan
had placed the magical book in a secure spot within the cave and
proceeded to head back to his camp. When Juan had finally reached his
shelter, there in front of him was a very large spool of the finest
enamel-colored rope that he has ever seen in his life. This was his
gift from the Tooth Fairy for listening to her story.
Juan
now has been
on the island for two weeks and three days. He was filled up with hope
after receiving his remarkable gifts from Tinker Bell and the Tooth
Fairy. He knew that having a fundamental belief in his childhood
heroines and protectors that one day he will set a drift back to his
beloved home and family.
Now another
three days had passed and Juan set out again to look for
food provisions and go back to the cave to read another story from his
treasured magical book. Juan once again strolled inside of the cave and
unsecured the book from its location. He walked over to his comfortable
sitting perch and began to open the book. At that moment, He knew that
he had to proceed on to the next story of the book which he found was a
story about “Puck’s Reasons.”
Juan
began to read the title out loud when a turquoise colored light popped
forth from the book and popped Juan on the head. Juan at that moment
heard a chuckle from his little assailant and looked up and found
floating above his head a pixie boy with pointed nose and ears. Juan
looked at him and said, “Why did you do that to me, what have I done to
you?” Puck once again popped a good one on Juan’s skull and flittered
in front of Juan while he was chuckling with glee. Puck told Juan,
“That is what I do to you humans or any living creature. I am,
Puck, a mischievous squire of King Oberon and Queen Titiana of the
Fairy Land. "
Puck
flittered up to Juan’s head again and popped another blow to this skull
and said, “Now listen to my story and I will tell why I am the way I
am. I was born to Duke Armando and Duchess Alejandra in the covets of
weeping willow trees and clover leaves on the far side of Spring Lake
in
Fairy Land. When I reached the age of fairy man, my parents had been
killed by the Boar Beast of Acorn Hill. When I found them, I vowed
revenge to all living creatures for the loss of my parents.
However, to add to my misery I fell in love with a beautiful pixie
fairy named Tinker Bell. We know what
happened with her, she left me
for her beloved Peter Pan. Adding to my loss of my parents and now the
love of my life, I have wandered around for years in Fairy land
playing cruel tricks upon all living creatures. Till one day King
Oberon
and Queen Titiana sent for me to come to their kingdom, which the King
took me in his kingdom and made me his squire. I am truly
devoted
to him."

and Puck by William Blake,c.1785
Now I have lived many centuries
with King Oberon and Queen Titiana but
my loyalty lies truly with King Oberon. My beloved King Oberon
asked me to fulfill his quest to help out the Athenian Demetrius by
placing purple flower juice in his eyes to put a true love spell upon
him. However, I took this chance to take some of my resentment out on
these humans and play with their emotions. So on purpose I put the
juice in the wrong man's eyes and sent his woman to another lover. It
was a
spectacular event to sit back and watch. However, King Oberon had heard
what happened and I pleaded with him to give me another chance so that
I
could make right what I had done wrong.
So King
Oberon
gave me another chance to reverse the
fouled up lovesick spell with the juice of the orange hibiscus flower.
But
I did not do this right away. I waited till the eve of the fourth night
of Hermia's death sentence. When I
finally approached the mere mortals to reverse the spell, all of the
sudden I was thrown against a mushroom stalk by a powerful force of
fairy strength. When I regained my balance on top of the mushroom
stool, but much to my surprise I saw, my ex-lover Tinker Bell. She was
always stronger than I was and she had heard in Never Land what I had
done to interfere with true love. Tinker Bell advised me that
she was truly sorry to leave me, but she truly does love me and I will
always be in her heart. Then Tinker Bell said in a stern little voice,
"If you don’t stop your sinful trickery with all
living creatures and mortals, I will come back here and turn you into a
slimy slug.
She
proceeded to tell me why she left me for
Peter Pan. "I left you, Puck, because I was summoned to help guide
Peter
Pan and the Lost Boys. It was my duty to watch over them, to guide them
and to love and protect them. That is our fairy promise and purpose in
life.” Tinker Bell then ordered me to rapidly change the spell before
the death hour approached, so not without any feelings I delivered the
flower juice in the corners of their eyes. I then turned to Tinker Bell
and pleaded for forgiveness and begged her to stay with me, but she
replied, “Puck, my fairy life belongs in Never Land, I cannot abandon
them.” So I having no remorse or any emotions left in my sprite body
yelled at Tinker Bell, “Well, go to Never Land and never come back here
again. You continue with your purpose in life and I will continue as I
please too.” From that time forward, I continued with my destiny of
playing
tricks and deceit to all living creatures of either great or small.
Puck
finished his story and explained to Juan, “Now go back to your humble
shelter and leave me alone, but when you reach your sleep quarters I
will give you a wonderful surprise. Now go and never call upon me again
for my life is too busy to stop and help you.” Juan replaced the book
back in its secure location at the back of the cave and headed to his
campsite rubbing his painful head in dismay.

Author' s Note:
I took this tale of William
Shakespeare and kept the original plot about how King Oberon asked Puck
to put flower love spell juice in the eyes
of Demetrius, but I expanded on Puck's life and and invented his ended
love affair with Tinker Bell to cause his reasoning of
his actions as being a trickster. I left out the more detailed story of
King Oberon's plot against his Queen Titania. I also left out the
full story of the mortals' love perils and wrote about Puck's perils in
his life. When you
read my next story, you will see the Puck will still remain the same.
