The disastrous date that seems to go on forever has probably happened to most of us.  It seems as if everyone has a story to tell of a bad date, or a funny date, or worse: a disastrous date!  These are the dates that gain legendary status as the story is told to friends.  The friends tell their friends and then the next thing you know, it is on the web somewhere!  The names might change, or they might not!  When these stories achieve this notoriety, they become urban legends.

An urban legend is a modern story that is told over and over.  This story grows and becomes a legend in regards to itself.  These modern folktales have a way of capturing the attention of people hearing the stories because the setting is one they can believe.  Sometimes, however, these stories are manufactured and completely false.  Such false stories can be hard to differentiate from the real ones because most urban legends seem hard to believe. 

When an urban legend reaches a status of greatness, it can usually be found on the website snopes.com.  Many people reference this website when they want to find out if a story they have heard is true or not.  This website tells many different stories and then explains the origins of the story and whether it is true or not.  This website has debunked many myths that have floated around for many years.  Without snopes.com, we might never have known the truth about some of these stories.  With that being said, there are still many stories on snopes.com that have neither been confirmed or denied.  The truth is that many urban legends will remain exactly that...legends.   

Snopes.com is only one site that has these stories.  Disastrous dating stories are all over the internet.  There are numerous blogs and forums that cover the topic of bad dates.   The reason this  topic is so popular is because we have all been on bad dates, and have heard about our friends' bad dates, too!  It helps knowing that other people have gone through bad dates just like we have - or maybe even worse!  Many people look at these bad experiences and compare them to their own.  They also enjoy the humor in the stories.  That is unless you are the one always involved in these stories! 

Now that I've given you a little background for the story, let me tell you a little about myself.  I once was a very handsome man and, I must say, I was quite popular with the ladies!  I might not have always treated the women I dated with the respect that I should have, and I regret that very much now.  I used to have all sorts of dates and things always went well... until Sally, that is...

I dated Sally a couple of times.  I usually showed up late for our dates and I made her pay for the dinner.  She seemed to really like me, but I didn't feel the same way about her.  One night while on a date with Sally, I met another girl.  I made up an excuse that I didn't feel well and had to leave.  I left the restaurant, but I wasn't alone.  I left with the other girl I met!  This is where things really turned bad for me. 

Sally sent me a text the next day and said she had placed a curse on me.  I didn't really think anything of it at the time, but now I know what she was talking about.  After reading about some of my more recent dates, you too will understand what Sally was talking about.  I have changed the names in the stories to protect the innocent.  I hope you enjoy reading about my misery, without further ado...
