C U in the funny papers...
11.1.02

Well, sports fans, the OUDL was priviliged to enough to witness another defensive performance at Owen Field. As the official OUDL beat writer, let me say it was quite a show. The defense continued to show why the Sooners are the best team in the country (at least according to the AP voters) by forcing four turnovers. The first half was a near comedy of errors on the part of the Buffs as they fumbled away two of their first three possesions. The defensive stats continued to pile up as the Sooners allowed only a field goal in the first half. Rain has fallen on Owen Stadium three out of the last four home games, but like the last two time, OU barely noticed. The offense did their part with Griffen gaining more yards on the ground than Heisman candidate Chris Brown. Hybl had an average day throwing a season-high 3 TDs, but also throwing two interceptions and showed some difficulty completing drives. However, in the end it all worked out and Oklahoma ended its losing streak to CU and continued its run to Houston and then onto Tempe.

The OUDL will begin practicing for the annual showdowns within the band on the gridiron. With three weeks until our next show, the OUDL should be able to put together another great team. This years team will be young but skilled. The defense will return the hip-breaking aggresiveness of Jeremy Popkess at linebacker. Jamar Poteat will be expected to fill the hole at safety left by Jason Patrick. Jeremy and Jamar could also see time as tight ends or wide recievers. Paul Nyugen will return to his spot at cornerback as well as stepping in to quarterback the OUDL. The OUDL is thin at running back and on both offensive and defensive lines. Look for further break downs of the OUDL squad in coming weeks...there's not a lot else to talk about.
