Thank You Seniors
11.21.02

Well, its that time of year again. The OUDL seniors will march their
last game for OU on Saturday in what could potentially be the best game at
Owen field this season. Texas Tech comes to town as the Sooners return from
the anual bear hunt. This will determine the Big XII South division
champion, so everyone should get LOUD at the game. This year's seniors WILL NOT go out with a loss. Five members (and one instructor) have given their
years at the University of Oklahoma to the OUDL. The drumline thanks you for
your contributions and wishes you well as you move on to do great things.
Give the seniors some props as the OUDL beat writer hands out a few awards.

Danielle Bufford - The Make-Love-not-War Award
Danielle's pleasant demeanor and encouraging remarks have inspired us all to get along and show respect for those who lack intellegence (bandos). Maybe one day we could convince her to curse once in a while.

Jason Sutton - The Nelson Mandela Award
Sutton spent his first two years on the OUDL under a constant barrage of put downs from a certain angry, angry man. His last two years on the drumline, under new leadership, have been relatively insult-free, (although it helps that he is finally a senior this year).

Sandy Stanton - The Little-Engine-that-Could Award
First it was, "I can't be in drumline next year because I'm too busy". Then her arm nearly falls off in the
middle of the season, (did she play that weekend...heck yeah!!). But, in the face of adversity and physical pain, Sandy has shown us all what it means to be committed to the OUDL.

Ryan Newburn - The Aneurysim Award
Patience young grasshopper...you must learn control. Since his days as a freshman he has pushed his abilities and blood pressure to the limit to bring you the reddest-faced drummer the world has ever known which is a charateristic that he has continued to cultivate throughout his college career due to being an engineering major and adopting a controlling attitude because by God he always thinks he's right and if you aren't going to put forth your best effort then you had best not be in his presence because there are things that need to get done at rehearsal and unless you are prepared to shut up and do them then he will take it personally and...<ghaaack>...<choke>...<sound of head exploding>

Annette Meyers - The Guiding Light Award
Ever the voice of reason when it comes to dealing with lesser beings, Annette cares for us and puts clothes on our backs (literaly). She is a virtual paragon of patience and can dispell even the most Soap Operatic of situations.

Grant Braddock - The MVP Award
- The guy who brought you better living through snack cakes has ascended from the ranks to lead us in our season of inexperience. He has put forth the effort to bring a young line together under a new section leader and show us what the OUDL can really do. With the head, the body dies; that is never more true than with the OUDL (by the way we all worked VERY hard the week you were gone).

Congratulations to all of the seniors and good luck in the future.
