Good
morning, my fellow colleagues, and welcome to the 453rd Annual National
Wizard Convention. I am glad you all could join us here in the
beautiful city of Orlando. What better place is there than the
Magic Kingdom? I know I feel right at home.

I am pleased to announce this year we have record attendance, with
wizards from over 100 different countries. We have many exciting
speakers and activities planned this week, so let's get started.
Throughout
this convention, you will hear from wizards of different
cultures. Each possesses great magical skills, knowledge about
the history of magic, and a wide variety of information on their
culture's take on magic and wizardry. It is important that each
of us keeps our mind open and expand our view on the world of
magic. In doing so, we can all learn valuable information about
different cultures that will help us relate to one another.
There
will be many guest speakers throughout each day, so please choose which
lecture to attend wisely, because you will not be able to attend each
and every one. In addition to the talks, we will have four
keynote speakers who will start off the convention each day.
These speakers will provide you with information about their
culture
and help you understand how magic is viewed across the world, both in
the present as well as the past. I know each one of them has a
great story to share, which will provide you more incite into their
lives.
Our
speakers come from all over the world: Iraq, England, and
Romania. They have stories that will captivate you
all
this week. You will hear about a tale of heroism called The Prince and the Wizard.
Plus there will be an
entertaining tale
about trickery in The
History of Tom Thumb.
To
start the week off with a bang...I would like to introduce our first
guest speaker. He is a crowd favorite and always knows how to
fire us up. He has come all the way from Baghdad and is
excited to share some great advice with you, as well as an
adventuresome story. His tale is the reason we chose to hold the
convention here in the Magic Kingdom of Disney World. As everyone
enjoys breakfast in Aladdin's palace, we will continue the theme for
today. One
story I am sure he will tell, as it is a favorite, is Aladdin and
the Wonderful Lamp.
Many of you know him as the "Evil Sorcerer." Please put your
hands together for Aarif.
