INTRODUCTION
The Pan History
Peter
Pan first appeared in
Barrie's book, The Little White Bird,
as a
miraculous boy who refuses to be an adult. In 1904, Barrie's most
famous
work, Peter Pan
(or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up),
first appeared on stage. Then, the
story was developed into the novel, Peter
and Wendy, in 1911 by Barrie
himself. Ever since, this story has been modified into many other
works including musicals, films, and even a peanut butter brand.
Barrie has created wonderful characters and settings that are also
included in my storybook. To better understand my stories, let's
take a brief look at them:
Settings
Kensington: A small town in
London, where the Darlings' home is located.
Neverland:
A magical island, and imaginary land, that is home to many of the
characters
in these stories.
The
Darling Family
Wendy- The oldest of
the Darling children;
she is adventurous, and feels the need to be a mother figure.
John & Michael- John
(middle child), is brave at heart, and loves to have fun. Michael
(youngest child),
is full of life, and loves his teddy.
Mr. & Mrs.Darling- The children's devoted parents are
named George and Mary.
Nana- A Saint Bernard, and the children's
paranoid nanny.
The Lost Boys
They include:
Tootles,
Nibs,
Slightly,
Curly,
and the Twins. These young boys live in Neverland. They long for a
mother figure, are wild, and have great imaginations.
Neverland Inhabitants
Tinker
Bell- Peter's
stubborn fairy, who can be
mischievous at times. The faries are powered by childrens' beliefs in
them.
Tiger
Lily- The young, arrogant princess of the Piccaninny Tribe, who
often gets into trouble.
Pirates-
Captain James Hook is a ruthless pirate who hates Peter.
He is also captain of the ship, Jolly
Roger.
Mr. Smee is an Irish rebel
pirate, and
Gentleman Starkey is Hook's first officer.
Mermaids
and the Crocodile- The mermaids live in the Mermaids' Lagoon
where they swim and play games all day. The Crocodile is feared by all
the pirates, especially Captain Hook. He is essential to the defeat of
the nasty pirate.
The Fairy Dust Air Tour
A new tour has just
hit the entertainment industry, and it's unlike any other you've been
on. Peter Pan decided he wanted to share his magical adventures with
all who were willing to hear. He has called together all the characters
to do so. Guess what? Today is your lucky day, because
I've got extra tickets for the Fairy Dust Air Tour, where anyone can be
a kid again! Oh no, look at the time, we better hurry because it's
about to begin. We're about to have the best adventure of our lives!
Here comes one of the Lost Boys now. Have fun and enjoy the ride...
Tootles: Welcome aboard the
Fairy Dust Air
Tour, where we've got your pirates and
crocodiles, your redskins and fairies! You'll never want to be a
grown-up again after we're done with you! Today we're taking you on an
adventure - well, three adventures to be
exact - and you're
going to relive the magic of Peter's great adventures in Neverland.
In order to do this, however, Peter would like me to ask you to
leave your grown-up self behind. Only kids are allowed on this tour,
and if you're a grown-up in Neverland, then you're a pirate, and
pirates
are the bad guys! Also, if anyone is allergic to fairy dust, or has a
fear of heights, I'm afraid this tour is not for you. Great, I see that
everyone will be able to participate. Any questions before we go on?
Yes, miss, I assure you this is 100 percent safe in every way, and I
promise you will not get eaten by a crocodile. Right - well, as soon
as Peter is ready, and everyone receives their pinch of fairy dust, we
can
begin the the tour. There he is now! Aye aye, Captain Peter, everyone
seems to be ready. You can take it from here.
Peter Pan:
Thanks,
Tootles!
Welcome, mates. I
am Captain Peter Pan and I will be
your tour guide on this glorious adventure! We are going to meet many
great friends of mine along the way, and they are going to tell you the
most wonderful stories about our adventures together. The only rule I
have is to be a kid and have fun! Now take your fairy dust and sprinkle
it all over yourselves. Great, now the only thing you need to do is
think of happy thoughts! You've got it! We're ready for take off. First
stop, the Darlings' home in London...
Adventure 1: Come Away,
Come Away!
- This is the first stop on the tour, where we meet Wendy and her two
brothers, John and Michael. Wendy is going to tell us her famous
bedtime story about the night they all met Peter Pan - when he came
looking for his shadow.
Adventure 2: It's a Plane... It's a Bird... It's Wendy!
- This is the second stop on
the tour, where we meet Tinker Bell. She is going to tell us her story
about what happened when Peter returned to Neverland with Wendy and her
brothers.
Adventure 3: The Mermaids' Lagoon
- This is the third stop on
the tour, where we meet the beautiful mermaids of Neverland. One of
the mermaids is going to tell us about the adventure that
almost cost Peter his life.
