Rats Leads to Disappearance of Townspeople St. Hallo Post Staff Writer: M. Larigot ![]() The photograph above is of Samantha Collins, taken on November 15, 1884. n
the year 1884, all the boys from St. Hallo mysteriously
disappeared from town. There was only one witness to the disappearance
of all these boys, a young girl named Samantha Collins. Documentation
from public records states that 130 boys went missing,
all under the age of fourteen. With Collins being the only witness in town, not many people believed her story. Collins said that a strange man with a flute led the boys up St. Hallo's local mountain, Mount Kopfelberg. Kopfelberg mountain had an old abandoned mine tunnel where trash and sewage were dumped into at the time. |
Documentation from public records shows that there was a mysterious man
in St. Hallo around the same time the boys disappeared. The
man's name still remains unknown.

At the time of this man's arrival, the town of St. Hallo was being
taken over by rats. The rats were eating the town's crops dry,
infesting
the livestock with disease, and polluting the town's drinking supply.
The people of the town tried to get rid of the rats themselves, but were unsuccessful. They tried to chase them out of town by flooding the streets but it didn't work. They also tried poisoning the rats, but the rats were too smart to eat the poison. The unknown man, who was passing through town on November 5, 1884, offered to help St. Hallo with their rat problem. The town's local records show that Charles Oliver, St. Hallo's mayor, met with a short strange man with black hair who asked if he could help. ![]() The photograph above is of the unknown man, taken on November 5, 1884. |
The mayor of the town agreed to allow the strange man to try to help
since the people of the town had been unsuccessful. Records show that
the man pulled a
flute from under his sleeve and began to play it.
When the rats heard the sound of the flute, they all came out of hiding and followed the strange man to the river where the man drowned them. The unknown man demanded a place to stay for the night and a reward for killing the rats. Records show that Mayor Oliver refused to grant his request. When the unknown man's request was refused, he went mad. The day after the unknown man was refused his request, he planned for revenge while the elders were at church. The unknown man played a different flute and this time all the boys, ages fourteen and under, gathered around him. Samantha Collins was the only eye-witness to actually see the mysterious man leading the boys up Mount Kopfelberg. Collins brought the news of it to the town and Mayor Oliver. Records show that the town went in search of the missing people. All one hundred and thirty of them were never found, and the mysterious piper was never seen again. ![]() The photograph above is

Author's Note:
I decided for my third story to rewrite The Pied Piper.
The original story is very short. It is a story about how all the young
boys of a town were killed. In my story I added detail, and I gave the
characters
names. I also added images as usual to add
effects for my story. When I was telling this particular story I kept
saying local records because this event happened in 1884,
although the original story was set in the middle ages. When writing
a newspaper article, I wanted to be able to show readers how I knew
certain things and where I got my information from. This story is
similar to the other two stories but also different. This story does
not have a ghost in it but it does have an eerie disappearance of 130
young boys.
