Introduction

It is not uncommon for someone to be
misunderstood. It is not uncommon for
someone to be disliked. It is not
uncommon for someone to feel that the whole world is against them. Add all these common elements together and
you have a somewhat interesting story. I
am not here to give you an interesting story.
I am here to give you an incredible story.
This is the story of a man who is entirely
misunderstood,
vehemently disliked, and truly hated by the whole world.
He does not care. He will not
attempt to change the world. He has only
one concern in his life; just one
person that really matters to him – Sita.
The only thing he cares about is being reunited with her;
unfortunately,
Fate had other plans. His story is
untold and unknown in the universe he lives in.
It is only now, in the last few moments of his life that we have
the
chance to view his true life and intentions through his eyes. This is the Story of Ravana…
The
Battle had
been raging on for what seemed like years now, and Ravana could feel
that the
end was near. He had known it was the final stretch when he had
woken up
from having passed out in his chariot. He knew his only chance of
making it
out of this alive was if the gods suddenly decided to come to his
rescue.
The way things were going though, it didn’t look like there was any
chance of
that happening.
Ravana
knew that he was unpopular with the gods
and more than likely they
were all sitting up in the heavens thoroughly enjoying watching him
struggle
for life, as though it were a cheesy circus show. Ravana didn’t
hate the
gods, they simply did not understand. They
never would, which is why he chose not to ask for their help.
This was
his fight. It was something that had to happen and he had to do it
alone.
Rama was glowing with strength and dharma when Ravana whirled
around and
saw him from across the sky. As Rama let fly an arrow from his
bow,
Ravana knew that there was no one better he could have asked to be in
this
situation with. There was no one he
would rather be fighting over Sita with.
No one else he would accept defeat from.
The
Arrow was sharp and painful as it tore
through Ravana’s heart in what he could only think was an
appropriately
ironic way. It was the perfect place for Rama to land his final
blow;
Ending everything in the place that had been the catalyst for it all.
He felt
as though his whole body centered in on the hole in his chest,
contracting and
shrinking down and filling every crevice in his heart, as though Rama’s
arrow
had opened some kind of black hole that was sucking and compressing
every
feeling in his body into one tiny spot. Then, without any
warning, it all
exploded back upon him. Emotions rushed over him in an
overwhelming
way. It seemed that he was feeling all the emotions of his life
at one
time. As he tried to get a grip on his body, memories of his life
rushed
through his mind.
Childhood
Memories, long forgotten, came back with
unusual
clarity, as if he were reliving them over again. He could see
again his
father, mother, siblings, teachers, servants and peers. All the
places
and people he hadn’t thought about in so many years.
He could again feel the sadness, fear,
desperation, and hope.
Sita, his one and only, the sole drive and purpose of his
life, came
rushing though his mind as well. His treasured memory, his
painful
secret, the moment that changed his life. He could again feel the
love,
loss, joy and grief.
The
Search he had conducted desperately and
covertly across the years.
It was another memory that the world did not know and would never
know.
It was long and tedious and he had known there was little hope for
success, but
he had carried on none the less. He could again feel the
loneliness, torture,
frustration, and faith.
The
End of his memories came appropriately
with reminders of the past few
days. His joy at finally discovering Sita, his struggle to get
her to
understand his true intentions, and finally, the destruction of his
world by
this man who had put the arrow in his chest and made him relive so many
years
in just a few seconds.
