Boberick, one of the "founding fathers" of go-karting, has put together
some extensive information on the first days of karting in the late 1940-50s.
There are many tales of old karts made from washing machines, lawn mowers
and even rocket-powered gokarts (like the one above). Races were
held between cars and karts from the early days and karts wereclocked at
speeds over 100mph even in the 1960s!!
