I am the Supreme God Vishnu, and I join you today to tell of my latest return to your earthly world.  It has now been over 400,000 years since this current wicked age began around 1300 BC.  I have come back to earth to herald the chosen ones to the next age of eternal light and bliss, the age of truth, the Satya Yuga.  I will arrive as the tenth incarnation of Vishnu, known as Kalki, and I will bring an end to the terrible age of Kali Yuga.  This era of darkness and destruction will finally end, and be replaced with the age of truth where the dharma bull will stand on all four legs of morality - the bull currently only stands on one leg.  I have been to earth nine times before arriving as a different avatar each time.  These avatars, or representations of myself, have all served various purposes.  Throughout the story I will tell you below, I will detail two of these avatars and usher you into the age of peace and truth.  In case you are wondering why this all sounds familiar, relax, as this will all make sense soon.  You were chosen for this journey.

It was a beautiful day in late July in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.  A light blue haze drifted over and around mountain tops and settled gently into the peaceful valleys below.  The rhododendrons were in full bloom with bees buzzing about them busily as they served one of nature's most crucial roles.  Deer grazed in the broad grassy plains that stretched across the valley floors below.  The many streams and rivers that criss-crossed the hills and valleys flowed like they had for millennia.  Fish of all kinds swam vigorously about their watery homes, occasionally leaping above the water's surface just to prove that they could.

At a ranger's station at the base of Mt. Mitchell, a hiking guide prepared for a long and enlightening trip that would cover over one hundred miles of the Appalachian Trail.  Many of the hikers he would be leading were just arriving, and a great sense of anticipation hung in the air.  As the hikers arrived, some alone, some in pairs, and many others in large groups on buses, the great journey was about to begin.

An announcement was made that echoed throughout the hillside.  "Please gather around!", "Everyone, please gather around!" - over and over the announcement was repeated until all the hikers converged under an open shelter.  The crowd was noisy at first, but many of the hikers began to yell, "Quiet!", "Quiet everyone!", "Shhhh!".  Little by little the sound of the excited hikers diminished to a faint buzz and then to complete silence.

The sky was dark on the horizon and thunder lightly rumbled in the distance.  From behind the shelter a man appeared riding a white horse with wings.  The crowd continued their silence, but the look of awe on their  faces was obvious.  The man dismounted the beautiful white horse and said, "Hello, my name is Kalki!  I am the final avatar of Vishnu.  I will be your guide on this journey."  The crowd sat with mouths ajar, eyes wide and staring, and in complete silence.  For many of the hikers, this news was a relief, as they had felt compelled to come on this journey.  They knew it was not an accident that they had come to this place.

Kalki reassured them all by saying, "Your presence here is not accidental.  You all have been chosen to travel forward into the next age.  We will leave the current age of darkness and destruction and enter into a new age of light, truth,  and wisdom.  This path through the wilderness that we will take has been taken by many before you through the ages.  It is the only way to pass from one era to the next, and I invite all of you that feel compelled to join me to take this journey.  Anyone else who is attached to their current life should now leave as this journey is not for you."

A loud crack shattered the silence as lightning filled the sky with millions of volts of electricity.  Torrents of rain began to fall as Kalki explained to those called to this epic journey what they would learn on the hundred mile path.  "On our journey, I will tell you two stories to prepare you for the next life.  The stories I will tell will detail two of my incarnations through the many ages.   The first story will be of my first incarnation, Matsya.  I was a fish in that age of the world, and I was sent to warn of a great impending flood that would destroy the world.  For many of you, this will sound familiar and will remind you of the great story of Noah and his formidable ark.  The second story will be about my incarnation as Narasimha, when I was half-man and half-lion.  I was a mighty protector as I protected many from evil and harm.  The path forward will be a challenging one, but with perseverance comes great reward."

"Let us begin our journey..."

"Skip ahead to the second story"
