Lesson Plan Materials Needed: Book "The Ants Go Marching" Procedure: Review counting from 1 to 10. Read the story of "The Ants Go Marching" the first time by yourself. Then read the book again and have the students participate by holding their hands in the air showing how many ants every time you turn the page. The students can also say Hurrah, Hurrah. When you think the students can count backwards 10 to 1 then read the story 1 to 10 ants marching and then read the story 10 to 1 ants marching. Other Ideas: You can do this to music. Divide the class into 10s. Each group of students can have different instruments to play for the little ant that stops to do a variety of things. This is fun for students learning a new thing.
