Instructional Goal
Students should be able to take this recycling unit and apply it to their daily lives to make the world a better place to live.

Specific Objectives
Students will be able to separate paper, plastics, aluminum cans, bottles, newspapers into containers to be recycled. In doing this students will understand why recycling is important to the earth, nature, and different species. I hope that each students will be able to carry on this project in their homes and help spread the news to their friends.

Rationale
Why teach this? If students learn at an early age to recycle and why it is important than students will carry this on forever to help the environment, themselves as well as others.
Is it more than just verbal (declarative knowledge)? Yes, I think students need to know verbally and be able to show how to recycle would help in the learning process.
Why use technology for this topic? Technology is important for this topic because everyone can learn new ideas from others and how they are use recycled things in different projects. It will also help them research on how recycling will keep the world a better place.

What advance preparation is necessary prior to using this track? I think students should know how to use the computer and be able to read as well as comprehend what they read.
Are there any instructional goals given? What are they? I did not see on listed but you can make up one
Are there any instructional objectives given? What are they? No
Does the unit encourage deep processing? How? It might students need to learn that recycling can help the earth and in return help us.
How is the teacher involved in this track? Listed are different lesson plans and resources for the teacher
How do the students interact with this track? There are games and a student center

Your track, as you see it after revisions have been made.
Describe how you visualize your track after you have made your revisions. I hope to narrow down the grade range. I also hope to find other sites that children can look at and see how fun recycling can be.
Describe the audience you have identified for your revised track. How has it changed (if any)? I hope to change this site for a younger audience hopefully in the grades Kindergarten to about the 2nd grade.
What materials and resources have you included/provided with this track? None, I’ll have to find some later
How much preparation will teachers need prior to using this track? I’m not sure. The teacher should read and look at all the site and understand what is on it before using the track in their classroom.
How will you get students involved? How will they interact? I see students keeping a journal on what they use daily that can be recycled. Students should be able to recycle things in the classroom as well as make posters or something to put on the walls outside the classroom to show others (parents, other students not in their classroom) why recycling is important.
How will you engage learners in the task? I will hopefully be able to teach students that this is important now for their future. Projects, posters, recycling in the classroom
How will you facilitate deep processing? I think that the poster idea would make each student come up with their own ideas as to why recycling is important and that they can express themselves out visually as well as verbally
How will you encourage ongoing motivation? I’m not sure yet, but maybe verbally and some type on incentive after they recycle so much
How do you plan for the teacher to be involved with this track? Hopefully the teacher will use this track to make a project on recycling in the classroom for the year and hopefully other classrooms in the school will follow. I can see the teacher coming up will a project for their students to use recycled things for art work.

Anticipated Problems
I think some of the sites need to be taken out because they do not work. You will need to contact a recycling company to see if they will be willing to put different dumpster at your school as well as talking to the principal if dumpsters are allowed on school property.

How will learning be evaluated?
I think students should be evaluated for the classroom items that they are always throwing away. Students could keep track of things that they use that can be recycled. I would possible use crossword puzzles, story telling, and possible some type of test.
