Nella
Princess

Dear Diary
,
Ciao! Mi chiamo Nella. I have not written in a diary before, but so many things have happened to me  that I think that I should write them down so that I will never forget them. First, let me tell you a little about myself. I am the youngest of three sisters. My two older sisters have never had much luck, but for me, everything seems to come so easy. My older sisters are not very pretty and do not have many talents. As for me, everyone says that I am the most beautiful girl that they have seen and that the sky gave me perfection. I am but a modest girl, so when people say such things about me I only smile and say thank you. But there is also something exciting to tell. For there is an enchanted Prince who lives in my kingdom and he is so handsome. I wish one day to marry him. Well, that is all for now!

Dear Diary,
It has been many weeks since I have written to you, but this is because my one true wish in life has come true. The Prince and I met and he secretly MARRIED me! I never thought that this day would come, but it did and I have never been happier. There is only one problem with my happily-every-after dream. The Prince's mother wants him to marry a famous princess, and not a commoner. So because of this we must keep our marriage secret, and hope that no one finds out.

Dear Diary,
The Prince has come up with a wonderful plan today! He has made a crystal passage that leads from the royal palace into my home. It is a very long distance, but I will gladly make the trip to see my husband. For me to access this tunnel the Prince gave me very specific directions. He gave me a magical powder and said,

"Every time you wish to see me, throw a little of this powder into the fire, and instantly I will come through this passage  as quick as a bird, running along the crystal road to gaze upon this face of silver."

How romantic is this. I must try this and see if it works. I will let you know soon how everything turns out!

Dear Diary,
The Prince and I have been seeing each other every day. The crystal passage that he made is working magically and it allows me to see his handsome face every day. I just throw the powder in the fire as he said, and he comes running through the passage into my arms. Oh, how I am so happy right now!

Dear Diary,
Something dreadful has happened! My poor Prince has been injured on the way to see me. The doctors are saying that there is no human remedy to cure him, and that he will surely die. His father the King has sent out a proclamation saying that if anyone can cure him then they should come to the kingdom at once. He said that if it was a woman, then she would become the Prince's wife, and if it was a man, then he could have half of his kingdom. I am going to see my dear Prince and to cure him, and I will finally become his bride before every one's eyes!

Dear Diary,
I have disguised myself so that no one will know me and I am on my way to see my beloved Prince. When I was in the middle of the woods I heard some very scary noises. I climbed up into a tree because I was so afraid of them. I finally realized that it was two ogres in the woods and they were discussing the situation with the Prince. I heard them saying that he was getting worse as the days went by, and the family was losing hope. The ogres said that the only thing that could cure the Prince was the fat from an ogre and they were not going to be the ones to sacrifice that. I need to think of how I can get the fat and save my prince. I must think now, but I will return soon.

Dear Diary,
I have done it. I have gotten the fat from the ogres. Last night I went to their house and begged for food and drink. They let me in and being ogres they got very drunk on ale and fell asleep. I knew that this was the moment when I must kill them. And I did it, and then I ran from the house to the magical kingdom as fast as I could. I must get to my prince before it is too late!

Dear Diary,
I arrived to the castle just in time. I told the guards that I had the cure to heal the Prince and they let me in right away. As soon as I had cured the Prince of his illness, the King entered the room. I cannot believe I am in the presence of the King! I was supposed to have the reward that his proclamation had announced, but the Prince would not allow it. The Prince said that his heart was already with someone else and that he could never love the woman standing before him. I tried to tell him that it was me, the woman  he loved, but when he did not believe me I realized that I was still disguised. I changed my clothes and washed my face and he then recognized me and ran to me! I could never be any happier and I was finally going to be with him.

Dear Diary,
I have been officially married to the Prince now for a few weeks, and let me tell you it is more than I have ever dreamed of. This magical kingdom will soon be mine one day and I cannot wait. I will be back soon to tell you of my new adventures! Ciao!

Author's Note
In the original story it told how the Prince was wounded and who wounded him. I decided that since my story was already pretty long that I did not need to share that information. By leaving it out I do not think that it has hurt the story at all. Also in the original story there was more talk with the ogres, but I also thought that I should leave that out because it did not add anything to the story.  I wanted to leave the story at the end without a real final ending. I thought that telling the audience that there were more adventures to come would make them want to read more.I again wrote this story in the diary format becuase that is the theme that I am going for with this storybook. All of my stories will be told from the point of view of a girl, potentially a princess, point of view and it will be written in this same format.  I really enjoy this story becuase I do not think that I have ever heard it told in English fairy tales. As with many other stories about princesses you can relate them back to Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, etc. But with this story I do not know of another story that this could relate to. It is something new for the reader and I believe that they will enjoy it.
