Adventure. Romance.
Betrayal. Deception. Danger.
This is
the story of Sita. Sita was one of the
most beautiful
women who ever lived, and she was married to a man who embodied every virtue a woman could
desire. Yet her life was no fairy tale.
Sita was an avatara of Lakshmi: Goddess of
beauty, love, wealth,
and fertility. Sounds pretty good right? But Lakshmi left
her life as a goddess to follow her lover, Vishnu, to earth where she
suffered terrible things.
This
story book will begin with Heart's
Desire, when Sita (Lakshmi) is
reunited with her
heavenly lover in the form of Rama (Vishnu).
It will detail the attraction that drew her to a complete stranger whom
she somehow knew she belonged with. A beautiful
princess and a divine prince, deeply in love with each other and
happily married. Too bad it could not stay that way.
The second story in this project, Into the Forest, outlines the
exile of Sita and Rama. Sita volunteers to face exile in the
forest with Rama rather than live in a palace without him. She
shows her loyalty to her husband even when life is not going well for
him.
The third story, Abducted,
details Sita's experience with Ravana. Sita is tempted with any
and every thing if she will be unfaithful to her husband. But
even as she gives up hope of being rescued she cannot bring herself to
betray her love.
The
book will end in Trials and Rescue
after a terrifying battle
and a dramatic escape
from the evil Ravana. But even after Sita escapes the grasp of a
demon, her trials were still not over. The beautiful Sita, who
had every possible
advantage in life, suffered more than any woman ever should. This
story will reveal the true character of Sita.

Sita's story will be
told by Scheherazade, another powerful woman
in a bad situation.
Scheherazade is the wife of a sultan, and destined
to die in the
morning. The sultan believes that all women are treacherous, but
he
doesn't like having an empty bed. His solution is to marry a new
woman
every day, and the next morning have her executed before she has time
to betray him. Scheherazade volunteered to marry the sultan in an
effort to save
the women of the kingdom. Each morning before dawn her sister,
Dinarzade,
wakes her to tell one last story. And each day the sultan decides
that
she can live one more
night so he can learn what happens next.
You will
recognize this story if you are familiar
with the stories of Arabian Nights. Here is a link
to learn more. I chose to borrow it because
Scheherazade could be very sympathetic to Sita's
plight.
And Sita's story will give Scheherazade the opportunity to
show
the sultan that some women have honor and will remain faithful to their
husbands, no matter what happens to them.
