Aaron Stark
Born in 1981, I was raised in southern Oklahoma for the first 18 years
of my life. I have traveled some and lived in other places, but
always wind up back in Oklahoma. I'm at university for the second
time working on the first degree. I took a short break when I was
called to active duty in the Air Force in 2004. I'm currently
studying political science at the University of Oklahoma and will
graduate in December of 2006.
There have been many people in the path of my life who affected its
course. My family and friends, probably like yours, are a great
influence. Growing up, my mother refused to allow myself and my
sisters to use coloring books. Though it sounds traumatic, she
was an artist herself and believed anyone worth something should not be
constricted by someone else's art work. To this day, I feel that
that aspect of my childhood has had the most profound influence on my
life and work. Art can be admired but never emulated; you can go
beyond or in an opposing direction but never copy. Probably not
so ironically, she gave my first camera as a gift.
