Jake's 2nd Quarter 06 Blog
Well, I guess I'm gonna blog again.
April and I are having a baby. It is due in January.
Today we went to the doctor and got to hear the heartbeat. It sounded kind of like "woosh-woosh-woosh-woosh..." I really don't know what else to say besides it was really awesome. We are both looking forward to having a little baby to take care of.
I have a heard time blogging about serious things, because I feel more comfortable being kind of off-handed and out of left field when I write these things. In that vein, I'm going to talk about Big Brother:
7All-Stars.
If you've been watching BB at all this season, you know that there are four people from BB 6 (last season) back in the house. The obvious hypothesis as to why America voted all these peeps back in is that they remembered them better because it was only last season. I don't deny that that is probably
part reason that they were voted back in, but I have another theory.
Last season was a good, but very unsatisfying season of Big Brother. Since this is my blog I can unilaterally declare what the viewers of America felt, and I will say that all of America liked Kaysar. The way that he came to the knowledge that every person had a secret partner (which several other people put together as well), then used that knowledge to manipulate "Cappy" out of the house is still the all-time best Big Brother moment. The "friendship" was not well-liked by America. It is probably the least popular alliance in Big Brother history. They had one thing going for them, though--there were a lot of those suckers. When Kaysar was evicted and Howie made head of household, everything fell apart. Without Kaysar's Yoda-like advice, Howie aligned with the "friendship" and put James up on the block. Right there, Kaysar's alliance was pretty much destroyed. There might have still been a chance for Kaysar, since he was
voted back in! Unfortunately, he made the stupid mistake of trusting Jennifer and letting go of the button and getting himself kicked out of the house. At this point, Kaysar's alliance was just fighting to stay alive, and they simply did not have the numbers since they kept siding against James when he was up on the block. In the end, "Cappy's" second-in-command, Maggie, won the money.
Unsatisfying.
People feel like Kaysar is one of the greatest players to ever play the game. He made one terrible decision and lost the game because of it. Janelle and James are probably the two best players in HoH and Veto competitions Big Brother has ever seen. People like those three and want to see them do well since the conclusion of last season was so disappointing. I honestly have no idea why people voted Howie back in. He's not too bad, but I can think of other players I'd like to see more.
So that's Jake's theory of why so many BB6 players got voted back in.
As for
BB7BB: All-Stars, I'm glad that Alison got kicked off. She was annoying me. I am glad that Danielle and Alison got put up on the block right off. I was a little disappointed in today's "Jase has turned into a great guy instead of being a royal idiot" segment. When he was on Big Brother the first time, I liked Jase at first. I had no problems with him. It was about half-way through the game before he turned into a raving moron. So, of course he seems OK now. He hasn't had a chance to turn crazy yet. I give him the end of week six before everyone wants to see him go.
I did find it funny when he referred to himself as "The Lone Horsemen", though.
Go see
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. It's an amazingly great movie that most movie-goers should enjoy. If you liked the first one, you should like this one even more, unless you go to Outback beforehand and get a stomachache.
