Logos - Supporting Your Claims with Reasons to Create an Enthymeme |
- Completed ‘Claims Chart’ from previous day - Read Ch 4 in WA (p. 75-84)

Day Four |
Warrants & the Toulmin Schema |
- Students will have created seven (7) enthymemes from previous day’s chart work. - Students will have read data set readings for unit and completed the sections on the ‘Toulmin Schema’ sheet entitled ‘Enthymemes’, ‘Claims’, and ‘Stated Reasons’. - Students will have read Ch. 5 in WA, p 87-92 on ‘Warrants’ (having stopped after the first full paragraph on 92)

- Students are to now complete warrants for their seven (7) enthymemes on ‘Claims Chart’ - Students are to now complete the section entitled ‘Warrants’ for the data set readings on their ‘Toulmin Schema’ handout. - Students are to have read pp.92-108 in Writing Arguments in preparation for class.

- Students have completed the section entitled ‘Grounds’ for the data set readings on their ‘Toulmin Schema’ handout. - Students will have read in WA: ”Petition to Waive the University Mathematics Requirement” (p.17-20) and “Debunking the 10 Worst Myths About America’s Teens’ (p.664-667). - Students will have produced the following for each essay, either in list or in paragraph form: o Claim o Stated reason o Warrant o Grounds

Assignment/Toulmin Schema Practice |
- Students will read Ch 3 in WA, p. 52-58. - Students will have completed their ‘Toulmin Schema’ handout from Day 3.

Day Eight |
Toulmin Exam/Peer Workshop |
- Students will have written an enthymeme in response to the issue questions designed to be the thesis of their paper and have produced a Toulmin Schema on their issue. - Students will have studied completed ‘Toulmin Schema’ sheets for a test during the next class meeting.

Consolidating Toulmin & Idea Mapping Your Paper |
- Students will have read Ch 3 in WA, p. 52-58. - Students will have rewritten their enthymeme, as well as edited their personal ‘Toulmin Schema’ according to the peer feedback they received.

Outlining: Tying Organization to the Toulmin Schema |
- Students will have reread WA p. 463-5: “Driving Global Warming”

MLA & Peer Workshop |
- Students will have completed their paper outline. - Students will have written a rough draft of their assignment. They will have brought two copies to class for Peer Workshop next period. - Students will have reviewed the MLA section in WA: p. 394-405.

Revision Day |
- Students must complete and edit the Unit Assignment. With their two-page writing assignment, they must turn in their manila folder along with their completed ‘Microtheme Unit: Manila Folder Checklist’ on Day Thirteen.

Day Thirteen |
Final Paper Due & Self-Evaluation |
- Students will have their completed papers, and all essay-related work in their manila folder.
