Descriptive Details and Dialogue
Read the draft carefully and write responses to the
following questions:
- Is the description of the person/setting sufficiently
detailed to give you a clear picture in your mind? Elaborate. (In other
words do not answer yes/no!)
- What details could be improved upon and made more
vivid? (Hint: Think of sensory details such as color, sounds, smells.)
- Do you have any questions about the character of the
person or the physical setting that you would like the writer to expand upon
as the narrative unfolds?
- In one or two sentences, evaluate the effectiveness of
the writer’s use of dialogue. Give one suggestion for improvement.
