My storybook focused on the legends of King Arthur
and his
knights. The stories span a majority of King Arthur's
lifetime. I documented the quest of two medieval
mythbusters named Sir Adam Savage and Sir Jamie Hyneman. Just who are the Medieval Mythbusters? Sir
Adam Savage and Sir Jamie Hyneman combine for over 30 years of
mythbusting experience. They don't just tell the myths; they put
them to the test. Sir Adam
and Sir Jamie research the stories King Arthur and his knights have
told around their infamous round table.
Through their research
and testing, Sir Adam and Sir Jamie determined if the myths told were
true, plausible, or busted. At the beginning of each test they
retold the myth as heard around the round table and conduct their
own very quick tests to check the validity of the myth. The idea
of testing these myths is adored by the people of King Arthur's
kingdom. Merlin, a sorcerer who can see in the future, suggests
it might be a great idea for a television show on a network channel
that dedicates its shows to discovering things.
I knew I would enjoy retelling stories of King Arthur and his knights
because I was a big fan of The Sword in the Stone as a child. I
noticed this
movie provoked many other students in the past to choose the stories
from the time of King Arthur. The Sword in the Stone was a
cartoon movie, definitely made for children.
Instead of a
narrator telling the story of King Arthur, Sir Adam and Sir Jamie
retell the stories from the round table as they have been passed down
by villagers from around town.
The only way Sir Adam and Sir Jamie get the stories from the round
table is by word of mouth. For this reason they take caution with
the reality of some of the stories they hear from their fellow
villagers. It should be interesting to read the stories from the
round table retold for the third time by Sir Adam and Sir Jamie.
I hope you as a reader of this storybook enjoy the stories of King
Arthur and his Knights from a different perspective. That is a
perspective of two very interesting scientists living in King Arthur's
kingdom. It is your job to help Sir Adam and Sir Jamie determine
the final conclusions of these round table myths. Remember not to
try any of the tests performed by
the medieval mythbusters at home. They are what you might call
professionals.
In the first story the medieval mythbusters look into
the life and stories involving the great sorcerer, Merlin. The mythbusters test
the validity of the way in which Merlin became Pendragon's chief
advisor. This one involves dragons and explosions!
The second story titled Excaliber
may also be known or previously experienced in the movie The Sword in
the Stone. Yes, this is the story of how King Arthur obtained the
throne. There is a twist though and you will have to read to find
out just what it is .
The adventures of Launcelot
are told in the third story. This is a complete compilation of
multiple fights and battles Launcelot has had throughout his
life. He is also known as Launcelot of the Lake. I wonder
where the lake part comes from? Check out this third story to
find out.
The final story of my storybook involves King Arthur and the Giant of St.
Michael's Mount. This is a short story of a specific event in
which King Arthur slays a giant. Or is this a story of King
Arthur's death? Read the story and find out for sure if King
Arthur saved the day.
