From September 1994 through May 1995, I was the English language assistant at the Lycee Technique Voillaume, a technical high school in the Paris suburb of Aulnay-sous-Bois.

Gare d'AulnayNeedless to say, the railway station was considerably more modern at the time I knew it. There were trains every 10-15 minutes for Paris and a variety of other destinations.
My main link to the English-speaking world was through my friendship with other teaching assistants, most of whom were British.John Cresswell was an officer candidate in the Royal Army. Cresswell lived in the neighboring suburb of Livry-Gargan (click below for photo).
