A Brief Exploration of the Arms and Armour of the 14th Century
If you've found this page, then I hope it's safe to assume you're here looking for information - information, which I hope that I can provide.
My name is Lindsay Tarver, and I'm a student at the University of Oklahoma. For as long as I can remember, I've had an interest in the Medieval era, and all the trappings that go along with it. However, even since I was young, I always was fascinated by the Knights in shining armour that I read about in books and saw in movies. I don't count myself as any sort of definitive expert on the subject, however, I do own my own nearly complete set of late 14th Century style transition armour, which I did help build.
This is something that I love, and I'm hoping I can stir some interest in it from you - the readers of this simple page - because that's something that would make me happier than I can even say.
Now, introductions aren't what you're here for, so getting on with it...
This page is divided up into sections, each dealing with a slightly different topic pertaining to the 1300s in Europe. Due to my regrettable lack of a scanner, this isn't a graphics site. It also bears mentioning that I'm from the minimalist school of web design. This is meant to be readable on any computer, no matter how fast the connection it happens to be on.
This, above all else, is designed to be a basic resource for my fellow students. It is by no means comprehensive - I don't claim to know everything there is to know on this topic. However, I hope that you find it interesting, and I hope that perhaps it might still be of some help to you. This is only the beginning of what I hope will be an ongoing project - I would like to add graphics to the site, and I'd like to update it over time to fully explore these topics, rather than simply touching on some as I'm forced to do for space and time considerations now. The whole purpose behind doing this as a webpage is to have a dynamic resource.
