The next morning Noah once again sent his sons off to take care of the tasks for the day.  His sons had made decent progress the day before with all of their blood, sweat, and tears.  They had traveled many miles on foot spreading the alert across the lands for all to hear.  They had also gathered the strongest and most virile males and females from many of the surrounding herds of animals that had gathered along the edge of the forest far from their homes.

Noah continued to pray for the lord’s blessing in his undertaking of constructing the ark.  Noah needed to finish the inside of the ark for it would hold many animals of different types some predator, some prey.  While he continued in his workings he once again noticed a small gathering of people down below.  The people were shouting questions in all types of languages as had been the case..

Noah called for one of his sons to come back to the ark while he tended to his herd.  When Shem had returned to his father he too noticed the throng of people and went at once into the ark.  He knew that his father had other work to do.  Shem handed his father a mug of water and watched as the crowd drew near.  Once again Noah raised one hand towards the heavens and began to tell his tale:  For many years the Thunder God had demanded half of all of Bubo's crops.  Bubo and his people were tired of having to give half of what they had toiled all summer for and Bubo tricked the Thunder God by giving him only the roots and tops of the taro and rice that they had harvested.  This caused the Thunder God to become angry so he decided to withhold the rain and to levy a drought upon the earth.  Bubo and his people suffered severely that year and Bubo and his people marched against Thunder God to the heavenly river.  They managed to open the heavy sluice gate a crack but when the Thunder God heard he again closed the gate up tightly and raised the heavens even higher to prohibit further entry.  Bubo petitioned the Dragon King for a reprieve  and was refused.  But given the circumstances, he was forced to release a stream when Bubo held the Dragon King down and plucked his beard.  After a few years of water from the stream the flow dried to a trickle and drought once again plagued the earth.  The next year Bubo climbed the highest tree to reach the heavens to fight the Thunder God.  When he reached the heavens one of Thunder God's henchman told Bubo that many would be killed on earth due to the severe drought that Thunder God had created.  The henchman told Bubo that Thunder God was determined to enforce his drought and that if he wanted to know where the Thunder God was the henchman would show him the way.  Bubo caught the Thunder God and for three days it would rain he promised.  But the Thunder God reneged and made ready to attack Bubo with his honed axe.  Bubo heard of this and readied his family with nets and clubs and when the Thunder God arrived he slipped on Bubo's roof and was caught in a net.  Bubo imprisoned Thunder God in a granary and warned his family not to be enticed by the Thunder God's trickery.  One day his sister happened by the granary and was coerced into giving the Thunder God some indigo ink and the Thunder God used its moisture to gain enough strength to manage to escape his confines.  The Thunder God decided to flood the earth but the sister who helped free him was angry that he had tricked her.  Thunder God promised to save her from the flood and gave her one of his teeth and told them to plant the tooth.  When they had it grew into a stalk with gourds and giant fruits hanging on its branches.  The sister hollowed a gourd out and got inside it.  The Thunder God then unleashed the waters of heaven and Dragon King released the rivers and streams in retaliation for his plucked hairs to flood the earth.  The waters rose up close to the heavens.  For all his sufferings Bubo survived on a make shift vessel of an upside down umbrella riding the waves that stretched from pole to pole.  He floated into the grate of heaven and upon entering the heavens encountered Thunder God whereby he chopped Thunder God's  feet off.  After this the Thunder King with the help of Dragon King made the water rapidly subside where Bubo could no longer harm him.  Bubo and his umbrella were smashed to the earth and Bubo's heart landed in heaven there; it is the planet of Venus.  The sister and her gourd landed softly  on the earth and  they wandered the earth and found no one.  (Miller)

Noah at this point had been speaking for near an hour and he was weary.  Shem helped the old man to the inside of the ark to his bed.  Noah needed all of his strength for the journey that lay ahead and the rays of the sun were beginning to fade behind the horizon.  Shem called for his brothers and they soon arrived weary and tired.  Noah joined his family for dinner after his rest and soon thereafter told his family their bedtime story.  When the light was no longer Noah and his family slept.
