Once upon a time…
These stories are going to tell you about the allure
and beauty of love. Some amazing things are going to happen. The places
we will go are colorful and full of the most unbelievable magic. Now,
these stories aren’t the normal stories you’ve heard. They don’t have
fairies and magical mice. These stories have magical creatures that
have powers so magnificent that it will make princess Cindy’s pumpkin
look like a month-old moldy jack-o-lantern. These stories of love will
send you on a journey all over the world, and they will teach you many
important lessons about life. You will learn about evil demons who
trick and steal, and you will also see loyal friends who only want to
help
and serve one another.
You might be wanting to know why these stories are
so different from the ones you’ve grown up hearing. You might even be
thinking that nothing can top love the way Snow White or Princess
Aurora found it. Well, I think you will be pleased to find out that
these stories take Jasmine’s perfect prince and castle and go farther
into the magic.
You will learn of Princess Sita sitting on her
balcony gazing out into her father’s kingdom, seeing her perfect prince
looking at her, and how they found a love worth fighting for. You will
hear of the evil demon Surpanakha, who became infatuated with Rama,
Sita’s husband. You will hear of the wars that were fought to avenge
the kidnapping of Sita, by Surpanakha’s brother Ravana.
You will hear the magnificent story of the monkeys.
The monkey queen Tara saw some horrible sadness and lost a lot, but
remained dedicated to the love of her husband and his family. She was a
strong woman and a determined queen. This story not only shows the love
of a wife and her husband, but the changing strength of the love
between brothers.
These stories are marked by
beauty, magic, love, revenge, lust, and sometimes sadness. There are
loyal sidekicks, such as Lakshmana, Rama’s brother. There are bad guys,
like Ravana and his consorts. The people we will meet have very strong
personalities, and most of the women, like Sita and Tara, are
strong-willed
women who are smart and keep their heads on straight.
Let’s jump right in. I’m sure you want to see if
there’s a happily-ever-after awaiting us. Grab your favorite teddy
bear, make sure you have on comfy PJs, snuggle under the covers. An
adventure awaits, we just have to open the book.
