Activities involved in:
OU Forensics: I have been in
forensics for three years. I have atteneded with two National Forensics
Tournaments and hope to attend my third this year. My freshmen year I
qualified three events to nationals and last year I qualified three as
well. I really enjoy participating in this club.
GLBTF: I have been a member of OU GLBTF since my sophmore year of
college. It is an interesting group as I am of a different mindset than
most of its members . I am what can be called an anomaly in the gay
community, I am conservative. Well enough about that.
My Major At OU:
So I am a communication major
at OU and I want to get my Master's in Secondary Education and possibly
my Ph.D. I want to teach speech and debate and possibly history
or
english at either the high school or college level. I think that
communication is an interesting field because it ties into just about
everything we do. There are major cross applications with the fields of
sociology and psychology. I am interested in conducting research in the
field of communication in the fields of QueerComm, Rhetoric,
Persuasion, and Interpersonal Comm.
Work Experience:
I have had three jobs. The first was the standard job most high school
students have and that is fast food. While that job was enjoyable I was
glad to move onto my second job after about a year. My second job
was working for a mortgage country in San Antonio. My duties were to
create a filing system and keep it up to date and customer service.
This job was a summer job. My current job, which I have been at for the
past six months full-time and for the last two years part-time, is
working at a daycare. I really enjoy this job as it allows me to work
with children and teach at the same time.
