Introduction

Swan Love

Hello, everyone. Thank you for joining me today to hear about some marvelous love stories.  Ah, I see you: you want to know who I am!  Well I am sorry, I did not start by introducing myself. My name is Kipper and I am a swan!  You might know me from the epic love story of Nala and Damyanti!  I introduced the two love-birds in that story and that brings me to the reason why I am here today. I enjoy traveling all over India, from Lanka City to Ayodhya. In addition to traveling, I also love a good love story.  Today I will be telling you about some of the love stories I have observed throughout my life.  I hope that you will enjoy these stories. Everyone cannot help but like a good love story, right?  Anyways, now sit back and relax while I tell you the reasons why I have chosen these stories to share with you.

First, I will tell about Rama and Sita, from a story in Narayan's version of the Ramayana.  This is the story about how Rama won Sita over and is truly for anyone who enjoys fairy tales!  I am going to tell you about this one, because it shows how these two were destined to be together.  You will really want to hear this story, because it involves Rama having to prove himself to be able to be with Sita.  It also introduces us to many things about Sita that we do not see before this story.  We truly see how much of a "Prince Charming" Rama is in this great tale.  In addition, we get to hear about "approvals" from the in-laws and who does not want to hear about family drama in relationships! I am sure we can all relate to family drama in relationships, in this story!

For my next story, I will tell you about Rama's exile.  How can anyone not like Rama and Sita?  I will tell you about Rama's exile and how Sita would not let Rama leave her behind.  This truly is my favorite love story because you see the turmoil they feel when they are faced with Rama having to go into exile.  Rama and Sita's love for each other is shown throughout the book.  I want you to be able to hear the breathtaking words that Rama and Sita speak to each other, and I will try to capture these words when I tell the story.  In addition you will find out if there was ever anyone else for Rama or Sita.  Did either of them have other lovers? Was there ever any other love interest in either of their lives? You will have to wait and read the story to find out!

Now we can move into the Mahabharata which is filled with love and drama just as much as the Ramayana, if not more! Who are the characters involved in the love story that I am going to tell you about?  Well, that is a good question.  I have chosen Draupadi and her five husbands for this next one.  Draupadi reminds me a lot of Sita because they are both very beautiful and are women who are able to get what they want!  The particular story that I am going to enlighten you with, is about what happens when one of Draupadi's beloved husbands saves her from the evil general Kicaka.  But which husband is the one who saves her?  Will Draupadi's husband be a prince charming or not such a prince charming?  You will have to wait and listen to my story.  This will be jammed packed with drama so make sure to keep up!

For the final story I will be sharing, it will be about Nala and Damayanti.  I cannot wait to tell you all this story, because I am the one who introduced the couple.  This story is full of games, heartache and even drugs, so it is definitely one that you want to listen to.  I will go into detail about the way Nala and Damayanti met and by the end you will find out the surprising ending to this pair's love story.
