Merlin: "Well, my young friend, for the last 1500
years I have been
trapped in a forbidden realm. The realm was within that book you
found at
the library. I was trapped in the book for centuries. The
book kept
getting hidden deeper and deeper within the surroundings of the
cottages,
buildings, and that library which now stands here. I was trapped
in the
book
mentally, but also physically I was trapped outside the book by being
the
librarian you had to deal with and I was never allowed to let anyone
read the book. The only thing that could break the spell was the
imagination of a
young human, which just so happen to be you. I knew you would
come eventually, but when and where
was something I could not figure out. My magic and power were
useless as
long as that book was unread and kept closed."
Me: "Wow, 1500 years. You are like the genie of the book. Ha Ha Ha."
Merlin: "Haaa, haaa something like that, my young friend. The story of how I was placed in the realm and tricked is on the last page in the book. I will tell you the full story."
Me: "Alright, let's hear it."
Merlin:
"A while after the Round Table had been
surrounded with the best knights
throughout the countryside, there came a period of great journey and
adventures
for all the knights. They along with Arthur would travel to
kingdom after
kingdom fighting, conquering, and spreading the word of Arthur and his
kingdom. Some adventures I even partook in. Awwhh, my young
friend,
those
adventures I
remember like they were yesterday. Sorcery, swordship, and
Excalibur were
all a big part of the adventures. The last adventure that I
recall
involved Arthur's two trusted knights, Sir Tor and Sir Pellinore.
When
they returned from their journey they brought back a beautiful woman
who they had
saved from near death. She was the damsel of the lake. She
was not
what she seemed though. she was actually an evil sorcerer who I
had encountered before. her
magic took over me as soon as I looked into her eyes. I fell in
love
with her
beauty and my power could not help me break her spell. She used
me for my
powers and unknowingly I told her all the ancient secrets and spells
she asked for
without
anyway of stopping myself. With all my strength I warned Arthur
that I
would not be around to councel him forever and told him that soon he
would be
tricked by a beautiful woman and his sword Excalibur and the
scabbard would
be
taken from him. I told him that what he does after this would be
what
made his
name known forever. The damsel was named Vivien, but I had fought
many
battles with her long ago when she was called Nimue. I went
wherever she
went and did whatever she said. She took me to a cave one day to
get
marvels for a spell she wanted. There she cast me under a
rock into
the forbidden realm of nothing. That is where I have stayed for
the past
1500 years. As Arthur and his legend grew so did the creation of
the book
and within the book is the stories and truth about him. The book
was
created with my powers to one day break Vivien's spell. And then
you come
along my young friend. And the spell was finally broken."
Me: "I felt you guiding me in the library, but I had no idea what for."
Merlin: "With what little powers I had left I used to help you find the book."
Me: "This Vivien lady, is she still alive?"
Merlin: "Arthur in the end killed her. But only the imagination of a young boy could break her spell."
Me: "Wow."
Merlin: "You see, I am here because of you. You broke the curse and with it I was set free. Now I will be your councilor like I was to that of Arthur."
Me: "Really?"
Merlin: "Yes, it will be our little secret. The book contains many stories that I will read to you and that will help you will instances in your own life I hope. The book is my gift to you."
Me: "Great, I think we should read another one right quick."
Merlin:
"Alright, I have just the one
in mind"

Notes: In my Fourth story I finally let Merlin tell why he has
chosen to tell me the stories and why he has in a way befriended
me. Merlin tells me about the horrible spell that an evil
sorcerer put on him. This spell was sort of like a love spell
that a beautiful wizard put on him. With the spell the sorrcerer
Vivien was taught all of Merlin's secret magic. She also used her
magic to send Merlin to a mysterious realm where Merlin was
trapped. While trapped Merlin and all the stories of Author were
put into a sacred book. And until that book was read by a young
child Merlin would be trapped forever.
I used the story called the Passing of
Merlin. My story is much different and very mysterious. I
think in the original
story Merlin was actually killed. In my version he was sent and
trapped in a secret realm. I made the book that I have been
reading in my frametale a very important aspect of this story.
The book was actually where Merlin was trapped mentally, while
physically he was trapped in the librarian's human form.
Hopefully
this is not confusing. Merlin is probably one of my most favorite
characters in the Arthurian Legend. He has so many stories I
could tell that I do not know where to start. So this was one of
my starting points for getting in a Merlin story.
