Author's Note: This
story of the Halloween
Poisonings has been around for quite sometime, and I think
everyone has heard some version of this story. There are many different
versions listed on the website, but I chose to use one particular
story where a little boy dies after eating Halloween candy that has
been sprinkled with Heroin. Turns out this urban legend is
actually false. This was an accidental death in which the little boy
had overdosed on his uncle's heroin stash, and the family
sprinkled the candy with heroin in order to protect the uncle. All the
other stories are along these lines. They were disguised as Halloween
poisoning urban legends, but were actually something else (such as
murder). Ann
Landers, a syndicated advice columnist,
published a column in 1995 warning the
public about candy poisonings on Halloween. She actually wrote that "in
recent years, there have been reports of people with twisted minds
putting razor blades and poison in taffy apples and Halloween candy."
In fact she had no official reports...it was all based on hearsay. Most
of the stories we hear about Halloween poisonings are never followed up
with the final investigative report and all of the instances have been
proven to be something else.
You
should really check out the link above, because there are some crazy
Halloween stories! I hope you all enjoyed my storybook as much as I
enjoyed writing it!
